I dunno how I feel about the escalation in this. Maybe I'm just a little desensitized but they really didn't come off weird enough to justify Anon's behaviour so it just seems like he's overreacting.

Like yeah mpreg and fetishizing cannibalism[/spoiler] are weird but the man was acting like Mori and Bae were gloating about lighting a hooker on fire. I think if you let the 'these gals actually ain't bad' feeling linger for a while longer before they go mask off and actually get way to into the subject matter, like Bae asking Anon if he thinks he'd enjoy getting filled and impregnated by a stronger man, or Mori talking about how she was masturbating to one of the scenes and showing off the hickeys she gave herself on her arm from when she was in the heat of the moment. I dunno, maybe I just would have preferred the semi-normal fluffy romance either way, but I feel like this still could have been done better.

Also for what it's worth I wouldn't add Shiori, not because she doesn't deserve to be in it or anything like that I just think having a tighter cast is better for the story you've built so far

Thank you for the feedback! That the fic reads well is a broad statement, but all the more important for it.

I agree that it didn't end up especially cohesive; you could say that I was writing more for myself than the largest possible audience, experimenting with things because I was curious. The narrator is pretty shameless about it when he tells both audiences to "stop jerking and start memorizing"; I guess the solution would be to make the fic so long that all these parts end up as individual chapters, standing on their own.

I started with the actual first meeting that ended up as the last part. The in medias res start that enables the "readers" to interrupt the narrator, and the narrator involving himself in an extensive telling of the backstory, came about because I wanted to pick up the old idea of having a narrator in a fic where the protagonist is a self-insert.
It's a uniquely interesting fit because the narrator using "you" adresses both the reader and the protagonist, but it makes little sense to have someone tell the protagonist their own story: The protagonist "You" should already know what happened while the reader "You" can't know. The way I implemented the narrator is avoiding that issue by introducing the meta-level distinction between the fictional self-insert and the actual reader while keeping the role overlap. And I still like that idea...if there's a problem, it's probably stemming from the crude first-time implementation of it in a fic that had a hard word and time limit. Amnesia on the part of the protagonist might work better if you want a less disruptive solution.

As far as the distinction between wholesome/romantic and pure smut, I'd rather keep it a mix; I don't want to write smut where the participants don't display that they care for each other. Romance without sex lacks raw appeal, but sex without romance lacks heart.
The treatment of the incest issue might come down to different perspectives; leaving pregnancies aside (as is commonly done to avoid having to introduce contraception into the story) I don't see much wrong with fucking your aunt who you never met before both of you were grown up. It's a taboo grounded in tradition rather than moral thought, so it can be overcome - though it's admittedly hard to trust the protagonist in this situation given the bias that seeing the hot aunt naked introduces.

Just because you are writing for yourself doesn't mean that it can't be a cohesive piece that puts its all into the story beats it's trying to cover.
It's also fine to have a mix of romantic and smut. A ton of really good works have that mixture, but yours didn't seem like it could soundly decide what to focus on. There is barely any interaction or past known between them and anon is already about to fuck his aunt in the shower. I think the appeal of the aunt in this situation is having a bond rooted somewhere first, and then everything is built off that. In this case anon could have just been a food delivery guy and it could have played out the same. It's fine if you don't see much of an issue of fucking your aunt, but for a more robust story, it should either be a hurdle that anon overcomes mentally or emotionally, or the subject it properly addressed in that neither party has any hangups with it from the start.

I have SOME issues with it but i liked the chapter, specially LuiI feel like the tone jumps a bit too much and the scalation of the scene with irys is...welll..not great. Personally, as someone who engages with a lot of passionate fans (autists) they have this phase of going "NO! YOU DONT GET IT!" before actually getting mad at you, so i think that's whats missing in the scene: A bit where Irys thinks anon doesnt get how important this is rather than her going "oh you are just like Fauna"

That's fair; I just wanted to say that, for this fic, I didn't feel like "cohesion" or "covering story beats" were important to me, partly because of the word limit. I guess there's multiple meanings to "writing for yourself": It can just mean that it's an enjoyable activity for its own sake, but it can also mean that the story is tailored (more or less) to your own taste, with fewer compromises for the sake of broader appeal. Because that's what all writing tips, rules, laws etc. boil down to: Advice on how to make your work appealing to an audience.

Anon has specifically decided against fucking her in the shower (in the paragraph near the bottom beginning with "The temptation to"), and that they have no past is by design; they have to be new acquaintances to lighten the moral load. But you're right that including both romance and smut in a story of this length means both pass by too quickly to really get into them, while the effects of them being related also feel underexplained. I can see why a story focusing on one thing more strongly would work better for you, and it might even be like that for me - but I didn't want to leave any part out, either.

Execution aside (it could certainly could use more space), I think it's fine as a minor hangup: On one hand, the morality of incest isn't a theme of the story so making it a bigger hurdle is unnecessary. On the other hand, I would think less of the protagonist if he was just down to fuck his relatives without a second thought, both in terms of morals and in terms of being relatable. The beginning of the story shows that no hangup remains, but there has to be some beforehand.

If I look at something I wrote later on, it is much easier on the eyes and tongue than something I wrote at a previous time when I was less skilled. For the Aqua you're painting, what might work well towards this goal is her trying to be a model cool aunt, and show her nephew all the cool things she enjoys and try to set up some hot scenarios just like in her japanese cartoons. If you were constricted by a word count though, I can see why things had to be roll the way they did form your perspective.

Thinking about it, there's no disagreement here if you look at it in another way...in the end, the author (as a reader of his own story) can also be part of the audience. But truth be told, I don't really read my own stories much after finishing them...I have stories in my head, and I write some of them down because it's fun to bring them into a concrete form while they transform along the way.
While working on the story I read parts of it constantly, of course, but at that point I'm just tinkering with individual paragraphs until I'm satisfied and consider the work done. I barely ever read my fics from start to finish (I already know every part well already, after all), so I don't really get into the "author as a reader" role much about matter that concern the whole work, like its focus or structure.

At the moment I'm feeling like I should have made Anon's conclusion (that there's actually nothing wrong with fucking your adult aunt per se) more explicit, and spent a bit more time on it. I didn't want to have incest as a big theme, so it could have worked as Anon fucking some girl he met also - if I didn't find the idea of having an aunt much younger than you so interesting that I made it the central premise from the start.
The rest is veering into very individual territory; I feel like the moral boundaries around this kind of incest crumble if you give them a light shove with your brain, and that there is a significant difference between showering naked together spontaneously versus taking someone's virginity spontaneously.

Yeah, that would probably make for a funnier story. But it doesn't fit with how introverted, horny and dumb I wanted to make Aqua - with how I view the character. This is probably a preference stemming from my TTRPG side; I'm hesistant to change how I think characters could/would act in a situation for the sake of the plot.

Try to think of it less as characters changing to suit a plot and more as them reacting or shaping the plot around themselves. Given how introverted aqua is/was, the idea that she wasn't a melted mess of a girl walking onto her nephew in the shower is a little farcical, if that trait is one you want to exemplify. Her horniness could be at odds with her introversion, letting her only do the bare minimum of interaction at the start, while hiding around corners or watching anon from a distance while he just mulls around the house and gets familiar with it. Also from my own personal experience, the best way to get closer to an introvert is to lure them into sharing their passionate hobbies with you. Aqua wanting to share knowledge and whatever anime she likes with her nephew would still track with the view you have of her character. She could even spout some cringe line that helps give her confidence or cope with a social situation and you could have Anon recognize it, and thus break down Aqua's outer walls before you get to plunge into her inner ones.

Yeah, that's definitely a more solid plot structure than what I wrote considering Aqua is at least kind of normal during the sex later on. You can tell which parts of the story I had less interest in writing and thinking about! What I had planned for that part was (1) Aqua thinking that you were your father at first, (2) describing what a hot shortstack she is and (3) Aqua trying to peep on you clumsily which leads to the joint shower. What's "something more" in your case? Turning it into a series? Fleshing out the concept enough for a longer oneshot? Expanding the cast? Either way, a good way to start is to think about what your idea is, and what it's end goal is. There's no minimum word count in /wg/, though anything too low effort is usually not put into the archive. Only greentexts, monologues and poetry should be under 1k words, really.

There's no rule on how short or long your piece needs to be. It's all about what you want to create and share. If you want to turn your short exchange into something larger, that can be your starting point like I mentioned in the other post. You already have at least a few characters in your head I'm assuming, so from there you have the scene you ultimately want to write. Now, how should they get to that point? It's taken a minute, but I finally have enough of a backlog for Tower of Tattle that I feel comfortable releasing parts while I have all my other stuff going on like trying to start a web novel. In the spirit of that, Part VI is actually gonna be a bunch of episodes. Frankly, Part VI alone right now is longer than Parts I-V put together.

That's not an intrinsically good thing, of course. But hopefully even with the longer amount of content, the story I've got will still manage to be compelling for people. It's a big elaboration of what I had before. Worth saying that I was trying to finish the entire story in rush for the writing rumble, and once that actually finished I felt free to elaborate as I wanted.

On that note, though, the last time this was posted was September, and Parts I-V actually came out in literally the first month that Shiori started as a vtuber. It's sort of a trip, honestly. It's very strange realizing that she has been a vtuber literally 6 times longer than by the time this was out. And even though all the Parts I-V have already been posted here, to give myself as much leeway as possible I'm gonna post the first parts to twitter again cuz... I mean, I sincerely doubt anyone's remembered it from back then. Then again, I don't even know if anyone is still using the Shiorin Stories tag. But it doesn't really matter because I committed to finishing this anyway, however long that takes. But yeah. I really am super busy and that little bit of lead time to work with would help me a lot. In hopes that a couple episodes will be more of a grabber than just one, I've got Parts I and II on here. Adding to that, I think they look a little nicer with the html and css I've put, and that some of the silly gimmicks work a lot better when I have more control over the layout.

I'm gonna be honest, I didn't like this one much. The first two-thirds were fine, but then everything went off the rails, with characters acting impulsively and being stupid in a very artificial way because, as I assume, you just wanted the plot to advance.
Irys, despite being shown to be the calm and rational one, immediately jumps to the conclusion that Anon is just like Fauna simply because he said the equivalent of "it's only game why you haff to be mad" and runs off al heartbroken without letting him explain.
Anon barging into the closet despite all the previous and current warnings not only comes off as idiotic, but disrespectful as well, and he has never been shown to be that way to the girls, not even in his inner thoughts which mostly consist of fear and disbelief, not disrespect. Then as if that wasn't enough, he notices the mop he was looking for but decides to pull off the tarp anyway. Why? Seriously, at that moment, he didn't act like himself, he acted like someone possessed his body and forced him to do shit to advance the plot. I was expecting the closet to be similar to what we got in appearance, but expected it to be part of an emotional climax, something like Irys finally fully trusting and loving him, then showing the closet to him as her way of saying "I trust you".
By far the worst part is the Irys to IRyS plot twist. Here I was all happy reading a fic about a guy getting closer to his weird but charming fujo classmates, when suddenly hypnosis, conditioning, mindrape, probably actual rape too. Because if you're pivoting to the hypnosis part of the greentext, that's what's going to happen and I hate it. I tried to be objective with the other two spoilers, but not this one: I absolutely despise any kind of mind control in stories, especially the kind that's done for sexual purposes. I was really happy that when you decided to pick the fujo concept up, it was the romcom part of it, rather than the "we're going to make them all be out of character rapists" part. So imagine my discontent with this plot twist. In fact, there's only one that has ever pissed me off more than this one: the april fools Holofantasy chapter where Anon is captured and feminized. It got me and I legit thought the rolls were that bad and that was just the story now. But at least that was a prank. This twist is for real. Really the only way I could like this is if all IRyS did was put lewd pictures of her in his head to make him be attracted to her. But I know it's going to go way further than that. Fuck.
