What would you call the sea in between continents like that. It looks like a river but its not. The sea would definitley be a dead sea if there's no good current washing the salt through. It could also be a hot spot for volcanic activity if that's where the plates are pulling apart.

>Like, would Marine's people a pirate people living on ships? And raiding the lands?
I prefer this idea, Mariners don't need land territory. All it does is restrict the natural freedom endowed by the sea, they don't follow any hierarchy or law aside from the law of the captain who is the king of their vessel. Some sea barons have enough ships to fight and win against more organized nations however holding territory is not the way of the Mariner so most decline in favor of a good bit of raping and pillaging. They would make for powerful mercenaries but fight for a pretty penny and aren't likely to abide by notions of honor or common civility although they might have some rules agreed upon by the larger captains, one such being that if a port bars Mariners from settling inside of it, that port no longer has the protection from other pirate vessels that Mariners provide.

>> No.67791808

>>67790860
I think that can work. Then, what makes a Mariner a Mariner is that they worship Marine, I'm guessing? United under their goddess, since it's not under a nation, land or government?

>> No.67792299

>>67791808
>Then, what makes a Mariner a Mariner is that they worship Marine, I'm guessing?
Likely this, red hair and heterochromia are probably ethnic features of Mariners but anyone who worships Marine would fit into being a Mariner. I also think that pirates and sailors can still praise Marine for a safe travel or give offerings without necessarily being a Mariner themselves.

I prefer this idea as well! As for >>67789474 historically pirates tend to resupply in pirate-friendly free ports in the New World as European ports didn’t like pirates much (naturally) so I can see Mariners docking and resupplying at ports that are friendly to them in this world! I for one would let them stay since I like nautical stuff and I kinda shaped this /vnug/ to be like one as well

>> No.67793260

>>67792757
One reason for re-supplying in the new world is because the old world's ports are filled with opposing nations' navies. You had British privateers which fucked with the French all the time and vice versa.

That said "if" we enter the age of airships sky pirates will be everywhere. I do mean "if".

Even if there are airships around, there are pretty good reasons for watercraft to still be important. For one, stuff that floats on water can move heavy merchandise a lot easier and more efficiently than something that has to stay up in the air. For similar reasons watercraft might be able to have thicker more protective hulls and heavier weaponry. Or at least those are some ways I think we can nicely explain the use of both.
>>67792757
Since Mariners aren't united under one banner, I could also see diplomatic variation depending on the given pirate fleet, maybe? As in, if you have a port that is generally friendly to Mariners, if one of them rapes and pillages a bit too much near the town and ends up with a bounty on his head, even if he's in trouble the other Mariners can still operate without issue.

>> No.67794486

There's a reason why history favors the fast flying aeroplane versus the humble blimp. Air piracy may take off if we're able to create magic flying fortresses. But that's a big maybe.

Makes sense to me! I think unless it’s something egregious like a full targeted invasion the people might not even mind that too much, although the potential raiding Mariners should know that it also means any counterattack’s a free game too. Basically vnuggets can understand the idea and many of them enjoy a nice hustle every now and then so they end up being friendlier to pirates as a whole than on average (it also helps that some of them might be looking to hire privateers/escorts for themselves)

Origins
The fate of the first deadbeat is shrouded in ancient mystery, veiled by eons of forgotten history. Detractors say the first deadbeat was cursed by the divines to this inhuman form for his heretical worship of the Heavenly incarnation of Death. Deadbeat theologists assure that deadbeatification is a blessing granted by Mori to her beloved followers. Mordimdimen agree that regardless of the first case's cause, deadbeatification in the current day is achieved through two paths: for the convertee, the process can be started by hammering a magically attuned Reaper's Eye gem into his or her skeleton. The sternum is commonly chosen, though any part works, with the forehead being another popular choice for the most zealous. The other path is through birth; a fembeat will henceforth give birth to deadbeat children. This is a critical aspect of the process, as a human fetus wouldn't be able to survive in the colder womb of a fembeat, whereas the deadbeat biology is adapted to it.

Looking beyond how they came to be, the oldest found evidence of Deadbeat settlement predates the Deconjugation Hyperwar. On the surface, continuous resettlement of the region has wiped away most ancient hints, but exploration of the catacombs beneath the Ilimyth Valley led to the re-discovery of *alum* that could only belong to the ancient Death Angels used in the legendary conflict, based on residual magical readings.

In the current day, the Ilimyth Valley is still the most settled part of Morijigoku, though immigration to the coastal cities alongside the Arazan Bay have led to such population growth, these are now beginning to rival the cradle of Deadbeat civilization in population.

Governance
The history of ruleship in Morijigoku is a gruesome and tumultuous one. Deadbeats seem disinclined towards authority, or generally against all agreeing on a single thing. As such, the various regions of the land exist in a constant state of diplomatic push and pull with usually short-lived flare-ups of active hostility. Only the cities nearest the heart of the Ilimyth Valley seem to have a smoother political history, due to the overwhelming and stabilizing influence of the Ilim Temples' lukur. In the desolate wastes of the South, or the lush forests of West, the various rulerships exist in a careful balance of mutual benefit and unity under the Goddess.

I should probably figure out how much population can be supported in the Ilimyth Valley just by importing foodstuffs from the rest of the country... Good thing refrigeration won't be a problem, heh.

Theoretically yes but I imagine the system’s reached an equilibrium long ago. Since we turned the planet around I think the prevailing wind of /vnug/’s always blowing eastward, meaning that evaporation from the western forest (from plant transpiration) will always blow uphill where it rains down back to the highland. After a while the whole /vnug/’s contaminated with magical essential oil even if galeworts don’t grow in the lowlands

I think in god genealogy, EN and JP are kinda two branches in lots of ways. So myth would be the old gods of the EN pantheons, but not that old if you compare them to the JP pantheons. Then, just looking at EN basically most of them (phase, nijiEN, councilrys+advent, most of vsj) are new(er) gods.
Kinda like how Jesus Christ is the foundational figure for the christian branch of the abrahamic religions even though there's all that stuff in the Old Testament.

Akai Haato and Haachama were created as two separate deities in an attempt to have two govern one land while having them be polar opposites. So as to cover both sides of the same coin.
However something went wrong. The two are believed to have slain each other and then pulled themselves back together into a single entity somehow. Two souls, one body.
Later Yagoo made Fuwawa and Mococo as a sort of do over to this concept that was far less unstable.

The two randomly switch which dramatically alters its geography, denizens, and government. Nobody knows when these switches will occur or for how long, but when Haachama is in control the others stay the fuck away and shut the borders to her state. Well I'm not writing for Sana's general anymore. This is just a non-canon character to tell stories with. She's a Sanallite who's left to have her own adventure. She might not even be born in the Sana nation.

That said I wouldn't mind if the Sana nation is just an orbiting station ran by a skeleton crew. Ocassionally Sanallites touch down to collect supplies and materials before heading back to station with very little interaction with the natives. Like what if the old /nasa/ station got fixed and went to orbit. The station is a supply point for other Sanallites to stop and resupply before heading back out to space. Any Sanallite that choses to live on planet cannot bring any technology or blueprints with them. Also the station has an amogus problem with Mozzies, mosquito-like parasites that infect and take over a Sanallite's body.

But take this as a grain of salt. I'm just having new ideas based on old lore which is irrelevant to this world.

>> No.67892940

Just a random bump before bed. I have one request for Sanallites and that's that the women are tall and well endowed. Baker-chan is like a mortal incarnation of Sana with shorter hair, blue eyes, glasses, and a missing hand. She's still got that lovely tan skin and galaxy latte hair color.

People's Appearance
Unlike many ethnicities throughout the world, there is no ambiguity as to whether one is faced with a Deadbeat; if the individual has undergone deadbeatification, this fact is immediately obvious. An affected individual has a snow-white skin and lighter hair than before their transformation, ranging from platinum blonde to grey and blinding whites, as well as pale pinks for more magically attuned individuals. The iris also shifts towards the red, leading to purple, pink, crimson or orange shades, depending on the person's original eye color.

Deadbeats also have a peculiar relationship with temperature. In warm weather (~30 degrees Claragrade) the average Deadbeat has a thin body, with features such as visibly distinct muscle groups, and a generally lanky appearance. As the ambient temperature decreases, moisture is stored in the Deadbeat's muscles and skin in a tissue similar to packed snow in properties and appearance, increasing their bulk, reaching a maximum around 0C. This has a slight beneficial effect on the individual's endurance and strength, offsetting the added mass which must be carried.

On the other hand, as the temperature increases, the Deadbeat grows more emaciated, reaching a truly skeletal appearance around 40C. Surprisingly, despite this extreme dehydration, there are few adverse symptoms to this condition. As the skin grows taut over rib and bone, the muscles contract to a small volume while retaining most of their strength. This state is commonly referred to as "Skeletalism".

Physical activity on the Deadbeat's part also has an effect. Strenuous effort increases one's internal temperature, and accordingly one's skeletalism. It is expected for Deadbeat warriors to begin a battle with a more mundane appearance and grow utterly skeletal by its end, even if they are still hale and hearty, and even in cooler weather.

Beauty standards, especially among females, trend towards a fuller, colder figure being preferable, as this makes one closer to the ideal of the bodacious Goddess of Death in appearance. For this reason, especially in warmer climates, thick coats are a popular clothing choice. This allows the Deadbeat's body to be warmed less by the hot ambient air, and preserve the cold generated by their internal magic, lowering their temperature. Internal temperatures lower than usual can also be observed in individual with a strong magical attunement; especially powerful Isib may see their body remain below the freezing point even in tropical climates.

I wanted to have some way for deadbeats to turn from a normal appearance to a skeletal form during battles, since Mori does that in a lot of kakkoi art (The skeleton look is her unleashed reaper form). I think I'm pretty happy with this setup. Also the idea of deadbeat ladies putting on big coats so they can stay cold when it's warm out is funny to me.
Plus I love the fashion of thick winter coats, so that's a nice excuse to have them be a thing even if the country is on the equator.

It might have a really nice niche in fire-retardant military wear. I'm not sure if deadbeat ice magic would make one more vulnerable or more resistant to thermal attacks, but if there's ice magic going around there's probably also some people throwing fireballs.

She only occasionally gets mentioned in /lig/ despite having pretty surprisingly high numbers because of how infrequent she streams and she only shows up in the catalog when people talk about models with massive asses and or tits, to which the responses are usually.

She has obscure lore that you'd think would just be a typical one off debut lore to justify the model and dispose of but she actually brings it up as an ongoing storyline and she's the only chuuba I know who's been able to rap and sound unironically good doing it. Love snake mommy

>would love lore on her though
There was an attempt a while ago in the old world but it never really came to fruition, her own lore is actually fairly detailed and interesting (https://virtualyoutuber.fandom.com/wiki/Saa she's the reincarnation of a woman who went into a desert and became a god of illusions that tricked the sun into becoming night? I've heard snippets of it in some of her streams and rewatched her debut but I'm pretty sure the lore on her wiki page is only snippets of a larger whole, still very interesting and based snake) and it was difficult to really mix that into lore while doing it justice and making sure that Saa's actual presence in /lig/ wasn't overinflated since she isn't too popular and Morsels occasionally get confused seeing more than 3 posters discussing her in the thread and used to think it was samefagging.
What I can recall:
>Morsels were a matriarchal society where features like waist size, hypnotism, and rap ability dictated who the High Histress was. High Histress is the leader of Morsel society and all other Histress kneel to her. She interprets signs from Saa and recieves the prayers and offerings of the Morsels in her name.
>Sexual dimorphism was very expressive, Male Morsels were typically 2 feet smaller than their counterparts and the woman are the only ones who have that big of an ass
>Morsels could come in a variety of flavors: Pale skin and dark hair like Saa, dark scales and more of a humanoid snake, literal snakes (may or may not be giant, rakshasha shape changers.
>Morsels reproduced in large communal snake orgies and raise their young communal style. All Morsels lay eggs and aren't don't really have an issue with cannibalism but still view it as murder if you're killing another Morsel for food.
>They live in tropical environments and prefer to live in very isolated colonies that rarely interact with the larger /lig/ community (although Mint Castella had a notification show up when Saa went live)

It would be pretty interesting to see how this would be treated in the lore since apparently the /jp/ side of niji doesn't seem to like the /en/ side of niji very much and both have a pretty weird history of graduations and reincarnations into other major companies that paint different pictures of their time in nijisanji. This would make for some really interesting lore, how would worship of the pantheon over the goddess look on such a vast scale? Individual temples being burned down and gestapo esque purges?

A vtuber reincarnation is a pretty destructive process, depending on the gap between the graduation and the re-debut, the hint-dropping, and how well-advertised the circumstances of the re-debut are, almost all the followers of the previous incarnation can lose the divinity thereafter. There's probably an event of "re-discovery" where the followers of the lost goddess find her new form and can begin proper worship again.

I just finished watching her Bday Live

So uh, has anyone made a vspo nation yet? They could be a nation that values guns and trigger discipline.
