What if your general was not just a general but a nation, devoted to your oshi and their will? Enter this general where the fanbases and generals of /vt/ are reimagined as rival nations fighting bitter battles or beginning wholesome friendships for the glory of their oshis.

Kinda sounds like a recipe to pass an outdated archive around and have stuff go missing desu

I think Unicorns would be more of a religious movement more than a particular group of people. It would make sense since Unicorns vary in intensity and what makes a chuuba unicorn friendly and not all recognize each other as unicorns.
Different chuubas have different kinds of unicorns and holo unicorns are different from the rare twitch unicorn or the universal unicorn which might actually be a cult or different religion entirely focused on punishing non unicorns and pushing the holy agenda. Maybe the unicorn agenda could be more like a reverse nun where they swear away mortal woman and consider themselves the true pre-divine husbands to their holy brides. Symbol would probably be the unicorn but I'm not sure if that would mean unicorns exist in the world, I think it would be cool if they do.

No, the main point of vt is to simply not have vtuber discussions anywhere else, it was made as a containment board, like mlp. >custom thing on a /vre/-only map
This, at least for now. If others did a similar thing I guess we could group them all on the same page, but I'd be doing it just for /vre/ personally.
I like the look and feel of those interactive maps where you can hover over specific part and it'll give you a small popup with some lore and a link to a main page for said species/location
I'd also be interested in learning how to set up shit like that myself so you're not forced to update it every time I'd add a new species or update habitat borders or add functions I thought up.

Well the interactive map is just some hacked-together html hosted on github, so copying what you need from there on your own account would probably be the easiest way to go if you want your own functioning version. I think the <map> tag would allow you to do what you're looking for, but I'm by no means an expert on this sort of thing. If you're not familiar with html though, I can try to throw something basic together for you sometime over the next few days.

No worries, I'll put together a working demo for you then. It looks like there's some sites available for generating the code for new regions automatically, so you should be able to have a fairly simple workflow for updating things at least. Are the entries planned to be geography-based or species-based? For the latter you might need to give some thought to what happens when animal habitats overlap, but the former might be more repetitive depending on the implementation.

Origins
The creation of the first deadbeat is shrouded in ancient mystery, veiled by eons of forgotten history. Detractors say the first deadbeat was cursed by the divines to this inhuman form for his heretical worship of the Heavenly incarnation of Death. Deadbeat theologists assure that deadbeatification is a blessing granted by Mori to her beloved followers. Mordimdimen agree that regardless of the first case's cause, deadbeatification in the current day is achieved through two paths: for the convertee, the process can be started by hammering (and thus embedding permanently) a magically attuned Reaper's Eye gem into his or her skeleton. The sternum is commonly chosen, though any part works, with the forehead being another popular choice for the most zealous. The other path is through birth; a fembeat will henceforth give birth to deadbeat children. This is a critical aspect of the process, as a human fetus wouldn't be able to survive in the colder womb of a fembeat, whereas the deadbeat biology is adapted to it.

I'm gonna throw the blurbs I write here piecemeal and assemble them into a doc later. Questions about implications welcome.

In shadowed realms where whispers wove
A tale unknown, by time reproved,
A deadbeat's genesis, concealed,
In ancient echoes, truth revealed.

Mystery draped in ages old,
Forgotten pages, stories untold,
The first deadbeat, in dim obscurity,
Marked by divine, a cursed impurity.

Heretical worship, a sin profound,
To Death's celestial throne, he bound,
A twisted devotion to the Reaper's might,
Brought forth the curse in unholy night.

Theologists of the deadbeat creed,
Chant hymns of blessing, Mori's seed,
A transformation from mortal guise,
Deadbeatification, a darkened prize.

Mordimdimen nod in solemn accord,
Agreeing that fate's twisted cord,
Regardless of cause in the ancient past,
Deadbeatification's die is cast.

Two paths diverge in this shadowed art,
A choice between the bone and the heart,
The Reaper's Eye gem, a talisman rare,
Embedded in sternum, a dark affair.

The forehead too, by zealots sought,
A mark of death, a pledge, a thought,
Magically attuned, the gem must bind,
In flesh and bone, a fusion entwined.

Or birth, a fembeat's sacred grace,
Carrying forth the deadbeat's trace,
In the womb, a chill, a frigid tomb,
A biology adapted, a destiny groomed.

Cradled in shadows, the deadbeat's kin,
Born of darkness, a lineage sin,
In the colder womb, life's thread weaves,
A dance with death, the legacy cleaves.

So the tale unfolds, in Poe's dark verse,
Of deadbeat's genesis, a somber curse,
In ancient mystery, veiled and spun,
A saga of shadows, the deadbeats begun.

I had a dream where it was baker girl versus deadbeat gangsters. Instead of fighting with fisticuffs or guns she took on the boss in a rap battle. Does Morig have reapers of their own like Calli? Because the boss in the dream looked like a gangster grim reaper like Mori, but she had a smaller frame and different hair and eye color.

Anyway dreams aside as a world-building topic we can make wax records and phonographs now I think. So music recordings would be a hot commodity.

Hello Sapling. Do you have a way of heating food? I don't remember if you used firewood or spec bio plants to heat food. For your spec-bio plants look up flameless ration heaters. The plants could have magnesium, iron, and salt. And all you have to do is crinkle the pod and it will heat to boiling temperature. Then you put the pod in a leaf or ceramic pot full of water to simmer. Just an idea. I think Saplings had hearths in the trees.

For me it mainly comes from the red diamond prominent in lots of Mori's official designs, and also I always wanted to play around with the "bejeweled skeleton" practice that is surprisingly widespread IRL. We do have firewood (collected from naturally dead/fallen branches, trees etc), but we don't use it too often outside of some bigger feasts or special occasions.
As far as spec-bio, the forests really only intervene with natural evolution for the sake of survival (changing an organism so it can live in an environment special for /uuu/) or protection (treants for guardians/protectors of the forests). I'm sure some Matre's could coerce some plants to make pods like those (neat idea btw), but its simpler to just use the wood we have.

>>67561268
>Since we have quite a long sea border
That's fair. For our corals and sea-saplings I was mostly going to use our little bay/gulf area and those two little islands. You're welcome to have jurisdiction over most of the waters off our northern shore around picrel.
>interbreeding
This would be extremely rare. Even when the squirrels were over here, we didn't touch this subject much. /uuu/ (thread) has a sizeable "anti-squeebing" community and /uuu/ (nation) reflects that. Even within our own borders, courting rituals are a very private thing. With outsiders it would be almost completely frowned upon. Obviously some occurrences are inevitable what with our borders touching, but I don't know that its something we need to explore too much (at least from an international relations POV. If you wanna write some stories about mermaids getting it on, that's your prerogative).

Idol-worship or Idolatry is the broad term for the "religion" that venerates some great saints to the realm of divinity.
There are many different values championed by different idols, but a major value is usually ascetism. Specifically chastity.
Unicorns are a movement of ascetics that take chastity vows to the extreme. They can be either passive in their migration or aggressive in their attacks.

My nation accepts unicorns from all walks of life, as a nation free from persecution by the bicorn counter movement. That doesn't mean I have to have bad relations with non unicorn or even anti-unicorn boards within the Holo-sphere.

That's the way I see it anyway. There will never be organization to unicorns on this board. It's an idea, a label, and until it has a general thread that actually survives I wouldn't call it a church or an organization. Like the puritan movement, or the Shugendo.

It *is* a very good look, and I think it might be due to them having very similar base-hairsyles that they look kinda similar. I had an idea of doing something similar with a coming-of-age ceremony where young adults would get a permanent gem-bindi of sorts, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work.
Maybe I'll just go for something like one of those 'permanent jewelry' things where it's welded shut around the throat or wrist so it can never be taken off. It won't be the typical gem-on-the-forehead, but I think I might incorporate that into something a little different.

If Pebbles and the roots are found in the mountain kind of naturally, I think it would make sense if they were found most densely at points where Her Magic is strongest (IE /gem/), and then with decreasing frequency as you move away from those places? So they'd be found all over the range, but kinda rarely outside of /gem/. I guess there could be a similar mechanism for Reaper's Eye, so then the distribution of both could be something like picrel, if that works.

yeah, that sounds like it makes sense. Depending on how far you're moving the Moriji borders, there may be minor border disputes and skirmishes throughout history between our nations since the middle part has a little bit of both. Like, I can imagine tunneling groups stumbling upon each other or both trying to claim a cave both insisting they found it first.
Speaking of actually, are deadbeats going to dwell beneath the surface, or is it more going to be up at the mountaintops and in valleys?
And uh, don't hold your breath on that story for a good while. I think I want to try and come up with some more about how Gemlins sustain themselves along with some cultural stuff first. Maybe something about those few islands too and why the Gemlins would bother to claim them too.

Yeah, that sounds fun! There are lots of Pebbles in /morig/, so it's really not a stretch to have some living their stony lives there, I imagine our Eastern part would be a bit multicultural in that direction. War and cohabitation are part of any border history.
Re: where they dwell, I think the deadbeat necropoles are built tall and dense, extending far above and below ground, but with must of the below ground sections being reserved to sprawling catacombs where dead^2beats rest in peace. I've got Necron vibes in mind, but with a white and red color scheme, and much snowier, and arranged on mountaintops somehow, and magic vibes instead of sci-fi vibes... I'll have to make some kind of visualization.
For a variety of reasons, the valleys are more dedicated to industry, farming and such instead of being dense population centers. With the exception of some port cities, which would have a lot of foreign exchange.

/morig/ has an unusual amount of non-deadbeat influence and positivity, so that'd be no surprise at all. It tends to be a bit of a melting pot both in lore and in actuality. A bit of a religious schism is always a bit exciting, the Advent generals do have a bit of a xenophobe streak at times (though that was more of a thing earlier on I think, seems to be cozier when I drop by in /ope/ these days at least), which could be fun to play with, as long as it doesn't become a schizo celebration kek.

For one there's this odd line in picrel that I don't know if it's intended to be there.

Ah, yeah the 1. is a mistake, you should be able to just copy https://files.catbox.moe/ndycc7.png over that layer to fix that, since it was in the map layer, not the border layer.
I'm working on 2. (>>67438037), assuming everyone seems satisfied with the climate.
3. is pretty easy. I made an ocean layer (layer 4 in the file I posted) by just selecting all the ocean with the magic wand and copying over, and then enabled only the border layer and that ocean layer. Then with the fill bucket I could fill the country areas by setting the Sampling mode to Image (see picrel).

True although sugar cane isn't the only source of sweets. Sugar beets are a good substitute if the climate is too cold for sugar cane, honey imports can satisfy the sweet tongue of the monarchy in time for the next big shipment of cane too. The Candy Kingdom's largest trade partners are probably the ones who can produce sugar products in bulk and ship the quickest to the Candy Kingdom which means luknights have a vested interest in halting the spread of piracy as it could directly harm their cultural industry.

When working on stuff like maps, I find it enormously useful to keep "information" fully aliased, so there are no in-between values, makes it easier to select stuff properly and avoid artefacts, and then I can add blurs or antialiasing to a final "display" version for aesthetic purposes.
Also, I found a process to vastly accelerate the upscaling of the biome map, almost done with the current one, so if we want to re-generate the current one that's no trouble. Though it seems like anons are happy with this one.
