Sana's design in itself was pretty fucking good, it's just that it ended up looking like anything but Pako's style. He even proved that he could make it gorgeous himself, the problem was probably that it would hardly fit on a moving model.
It's the same reason why I can hardly imagine artists like Kiyotaka Haimura work for Hololive as illustrators for original models, the style just doesn't apply to the medium, even if they know how to draw cute girls.
