would vtubing be better or worse if streaming didnt exist and was just lets plays?

>> No.67228093

The only good lets plays are the highly edited ones.

>> No.67228474

>>67228008
As a vod-watcher, much much much better

>> No.67228695

>>67228008
Vtubing only focuses on gaming because it's the easiest stream content. If you take away streaming their content wouldn't be let's plays, it'd just be random videos like the early days.

some good streamers would be awful LPers

Which drug fucked your brain that much?

>> No.67232750

Better in the way that people wouldnt be as parasocial. Livestreaming offers too much parasocial behavior with superchats, donations and reading chat messages. Vtubers are just early lets play era level content creators.

>> No.67233123

That's how it was mostly back then, at least the little I remember from the kizuna era.

What do you think?

>> No.67233333

>>67228093
Wasn't it Pewdiepie who started this trend? Honestly a good let's player can stream without chat interaction, but it still might be even better with chat inclusion. There are only few exceptions when you consider backseat gamers and spoilers.

>> No.67233425

>>67228008
It was nice seeing the chat's reaction for this game specifically because there's so much risk of spoiling things in a livestream everyone needs to shut the fuck up.

That said look at her numbers for that LP compared to her live and you'll have your answer.

>> No.67234214

There would be a lot more successful male vtubers in the west. Insecure men wouldn’t be getting upset over women in chat and they would end up with a similar audience to Oneyplays and/or Vinesauce.

>> No.67235337

>>67228008
that particular LP brough some absolute good moments but also moments where I just wanted to scream at her.
At least the cool part was to premiere it so that you can chat.

Wouldn't it be exactly what Kizuna AI was doing?

>> No.67237626

Much of the appeal of vtubing is basically being an improvised anime. Let's plays won't work very well with it.

Yes.
>no rrats, just edit them out
>no drama besides vtuber beef (not even a thing, lmao)
>no mega corpos
>much smaller scene
>unicorns don't exist, only gachikoi
>numberniggers don't exist, no CCV so their brains can't make calculus
>no mouth breathing 80 IQ chat replays on the screen
>no dono screencaps on /vt/
>no dono reading streams (suicide fuel)
>VoD watchers are Kings, as YouTube intended

Our timeline is hell because of stream monetization, this is the future that our Japanese corporate overlords chose for us.

This your last chance. After this there is no turning back. You take the blue pill, this post ends. You wake up in your bed and watch whatever corpo slop you want to. You take the red pill, you stay in Oshi Wonderland, and I show you how deep the indie rabbit hole goes. Remember, all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.

Most vtuber fans wouldn't know about this but virtually all of what I said already happened during the Kizuna Ai era. What seems like a dream to you was once my reality.

I don't think streaming's going anywhere but what I really want to see are highlights, it'd be a nice middle ground between VODs that have too much dead air and clips which are too short and have too little context. I know Vesper at least did that for his FTL streams from what I remember

>> No.67243421

I think what Fauna did was prove some content is absolutely being shoehorned into streams when it clearly should be recordings (preferably with editing). A mix would be more ideal.

If EN vtubers didn't stream, they'd be making vlogs like this:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=lh8D4sBXMmo
Which is honestly what the term "virtual YouTuber" originally ment. A lot of the early vtuber content in 2016-2018 was just people with mocap suits talking about random stuff.

Used to watch lots of LPs back when 2BFP were still a thing, but ever since they disbanded I pretty much started just watching streams and never really looked back. LPs can still work when there's two or more people bouncing off of each other, otherwise it's far better when they can banter with chat. No solo LPer can reach the heights of good solo streamers like Jerma or Tomato for that exact reason. Not that much of a difference otherwise, since you can still watch VODs in most cases.

>> No.67260561

Streaming is also just plain easier. That's why a lot of prominent LP's of the past fully swapped to streaming and then just hire dedicated editors to make clips or let's plays out of full streams. That way they can double dip into both formats.

>> No.67260916

>>67239395
Streaming is easier then making videos its that simple. A vtuber would rather stream for 6 hours then make a 10 minute video.

>> No.67262033

>>67260561
>>67260916
It's not really easier, if anything it's more stressful. It just makes a whole lot more money due to the [trigger warning!] parasocial aspect involved with it, is the thing.

>> No.67262747

>>67260189
I for one find most chats annoying. They get in the way too much.

>> No.67263204

>>67262033
Streaming is definitely more accessible than video-making. Editing software tends to be expensive and complicated, whereas OBS is free and you only need to set it up once and then hit the "Start streaming" button.

>> No.67263532

>>67262747
Understandable, but chat is a tool and it's up to the streamer to try and pluck something valuable out of that pile of shit.
It's pretty much as Pekora says here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc1gs3Y_nYo&t=36s
I'd argue that's one of the main skills a good streamer should hone.
>>67263204
>Editing software tends to be expensive and complicated
Anon please, DaVinci Resolve is one of the best editing tools around and it's completely free. Editing just takes up a lot of time, unpaid time they could spend streaming while getting showered in subs and donos. Edited gameplay content just isn't worth the time in most cases.
