Personally, I think its's a bad idea. By broadening /meat/ into /freak/, we've given ourselves a more stable and more active home by being welcoming to other weird anons and aspies who don't have a stable home of their own. And while most of them might not be like us, when you're as fringe as we are, having people who will accept us and want to be around us is just as important as having people exactly like us.
I worry that /meat/ might not only come off as exclusive to those newer weirdanons, but it might also inspire the more purist oldfags to gatekeep in an attempt to get back to the old days.
But we'll never get back to those days. Ryona content will always be a short term endeavour, and seeing what happened to Comma and Gomi, as well as all the others who had their channels nuked for having even mild ryona asmr content like Minori, I can't imagine anyone will want to become a vtuber who perfectly fits the definition of /meat/ anymore. It's just not worth the effort.

Sorry for the rant. If you guys want a /meat/ thread for the memories that's fine, but I think it would be best to stick to /freak/ from now on, or at least add something to the OP that makes weirdchuubas welcome, since I'd hate to loose the new friends we've made over nostalgia. Feel free to disagree though, those are just my thoughts.

/meat/ always represented more than just ryona vtubers. /freak/ is just a broader version of the old /meat/. to try to separate them by type instead of degree is the fundamental flaw in your analysis. also, you make it seem like ryona vtubing is dead, but it still happens, though far less openly. for the most part, each of the examples you gave were instances of the vtuber themselves being unstable. awa still draws content on stream that is just as fitting for /meat/ as it is of /freak/, and now we have even more vtubers doing the same thing. all of our /freak/ chuubas have some connection to our traditional /meat/ chuubas, be they loose or otherwise. in short, it doesn’t have to be one or the other, and i believe we have been perfectly achieving both at the same time thus far.

I didn't mean to imply that ryona vtubing was dead, just that it's impermanent. But then again I guess all vtubing is too, nobody will likely do this forever. And yeah I probably concernfag over the unstable ones a bit much and ignore others.
I guess as long as our new friends like QWIL and the anons who've shared their ideas for their vtubing projects feel comfortable here and they can exist along side us, then I'm ok with the name.
And if the jannies decide they aren't I guess we can always change names as needed.

I have to say that being back like this is a unique feeling, it feels great, but I hope our new friends will feel as at home as we do if we manage to come back for real. keeping what we created as /freak/ would be the ideal.
