They don't sound like either, but they do sound like fan lyrics to a JP song.
But that's less the lyrics themselves and more that the song "sounds" Japanese, in the same way most English songs "sound" English or Spanish songs "sound" Spanish.
The song matches more with the rhythm of the Japanese language, so the English lyrics (even though it's the only actual version) sound awkward.

I watched it when it first came out and I was disappointed they made the song like this. Machine Translation or just awkward positioning, whatever you want to call it, is just semantics and does not eliminate the issue at hand. It sounds awkward and they should have spent more time making the lyrics sound more natural to the english language to make a better first impression.
