There's nothing over there worth keeping secret for there to be an NDA contract termination clause. No big projects involving a country's government, no huge sponsorships, nothing.

There's an immense start-up cost involved in it AND you are not guaranteed success or profits. Not defending this decision by Cover but why on earth WOULDN'T you join Hololive given the chance? Meanwhile as an Indie if you want a SMALL chance to compete without that Vitamin D supplement coming up your ass, you need to do shit like Shylily where you spend thousands of dollars out of pocket on a good live model AND you're still not guaranteed success if you have the personality of a wet wipe. There’s no “creator” group where there’s more actual motivation for corporate structure than Vtubers.
A medium nearly entirely dependent on pseudonymity paired with extremely talented but retarded people who will fuck up and leak, at least some element of consistent roleplaying paired with autists who don’t know what and what not to say as “themselves” to the public, and a rabid audience who usually behave but will take any opportunity to misunderstand and misconstrue actions.
I’m glad indies exist, but if you think that path is for everyone, you haven’t thought hard enough, or been around to see people who clearly do not manage their own projects well beyond two years max.

To put it more bluntly, I, and what I think is most actual Vtuber fans, don't want endless rambling on about whatever stupid current event is trending on Twitter or general government/socialnigger matters, nor too much disclosure about one's personal life or certain commentary on other talents.
The right for chuubas to talk about whatever they want is withheld in order for what should, in theory, be a better experience for most viewers overall and a healthier career for the talent.
What I think you are referring to is the most extreme example of this in a corporation with the most stringent public image standards, and I think we both know that different companies would handle the same event differently.
