I read a lotta stuff so I decided to see what would happen if I cramp them all in. The scepter’s something I took from Inca although the cave vista’s more inspired by Aztec myth
The founding myth itself’s a bit of a PL reference although at the same time since I strung both versions of /vnug/ history in the mythic past, I feel it makes sense that the thing the people want the most is stability and happiness, a place to finally call home

Oh Aztec stuff? Neat. Kinda fun how vnug1 took some viking elements from the aztec-viking /meat/ society, while this one is going with aztec elements.
Yeah, I feel that. I think my founding myth will weave in stuff from various hellish mythologies instead of some real civilization, probably mostly mesopotamian and greek hells because they've got a lot going on and the former is kinda underrated. Plus obviously that special Mori touch. Still thinking about the details though.

>>66763015
The rise of Gura bait threads along with multiple yabs from NijiEN and Idol caused a sudden rise in schizophrenia that reacted with the rising use of chuubanite based technology, the arrrival of Advent was a kind of breaking point with Bijou acting as a conceptual anchor for chuubanite as a rock (the most prominent form), Fuwamoco acting as a conceptual anchor for the concept of twins(in addition to the idea of travel from the residual aspects and qualities of their past lives), Shiori acting as a conceptual anchor for archiving(and a magnet for schizophrenia), and Nerissa acting as a conceptual anchor for songs which at first was innocuous but would eventually be the catalyst for the Vitubian Schizophrenian Cataclysm.
Using the combined concepts of these chuubanite variants, accompanied by the overarching idea of Advent being the dawn of something new and unheard of, without meaning to, chuubanite autist caused the world to conceptually split into several parts, these could be refrenced as the multiple settings and deviances from the original canon such as the space setting and all that. While split from an original world, all worlds exist in their totality losing nothing from this split and maintaining a consistent history independent of Vitubia. This new setting, vtwobia or vitubia 2 is one of those new settings which arose from the cataclysm.

Cultures!

For the most part, its one nation per culture, with some exceptions.
Savan, owing to how there are many kinds of animals in it, have four cultures inhabiting it: the mammal people, the rodents, the birds, and the insects. All with their own language: Ruthenian for the mammals, Japanese for the birds, MesoAm for the insects, and Rodents hopping between English and Japanese.

Polarian language is just straight up English. Notable areas outside Polaria are a sizable part of Canas in Nero Eterna and part of Tempus Rock in Diarnuit.
Speaking of Diarnuit, there's the main divide of the west with its dwarves and the east with its elves.

Fun fact. The frequency of earthquakes affect the architecture of that area. Japan for example makes their palaces out of wood, bamboo, and paper. Why? Because stone is expensive and it crumbles in earthquakes. If your palace is going to fall apart a lot then naturally you will want to use easier to gather materials to repair it. Not to say stone wasn't used. It was used for the walls where you needed the most defense.

I think. I'm just going by memory.

>Origin: Lazulight, PomuTori
>Lv 1 - Idolism - Passive - No Cost - At the start of an encounter, you can declare a Nature. Installs in all units (including you) with that Nature gain +1 Bonus Level. However, your Installs with that Nature cannot provide a Sync Bonus.
>Lv 2 - Proliferation - Active - 10 Drive - Target any unit. Randomly choose an Install of that Target that has a non-Fairy Nature. That Install's Nature(s) become "Fairy" until the end of the encounter.
>Lv 3 - High Energy - Active - 4 Drive - Increase all allies' Drive by 2d4. If they have the Regen condition, it immediately activates.
>Lv 4 - Hype Up - Active - 40 Drive - [FN] Remove a Condition from the Target and increase their Drive by 4d6+PRE. If they have no Conditions after this, Apply [Regen] (2t) to that unit.
>Lv 5 - Ritualism - Passive - No Cost - Once per turn, during your turn, you can use an Active ability for only half of its Drive cost, but if you do, it does not take effect until the end of your next turn.

I was running into this issue where it seemed no matter what I did, people always seemed to turn to nomadism as the population of a group grew. Took me a while to realize that the reason people stopped moving around was agriculture; agriculture lets you access more food for a given area, but you have to stay in the same place to put the agriculture infrastructure in place. As a result, the location where you currently are ends up having more food than the unsettled surrounding land, which is your incentive to stop moving around. That's why that's the first tech in civilization.

In the realm of threads and yabs, a tale unfolds,
Gura bait weaving, NijiEN stories being told.
Chuubanite technology rising, a symphony of hues,
Schizophrenia dances, sparked by the advent news.

Bijou, a rock amidst the chaos, stands,
An anchor for chuubanite in diverse lands.
Fuwamoco, twin concept's embrace,
Journeying through past lives, leaving a trace.

Shiori, archivist magnet, pulls history near,
A whisper of schizophrenia, a presence to fear.
Nerissa, the catalyst for melodic storms,
Songs innocuous, yet a cataclysm transforms.

Advent, the dawn of the unseen,
Chuubanite autists, unwittingly keen.
Worlds conceptually split, a cosmic divide,
Settings diverse, from the original they hide.

Space unfolds, a setting anew,
Deviances from canon, a colorful view.
Yet in totality, worlds remain,
Consistent histories, their essence retained.

Vitubian Schizophrenian Cataclysm's embrace,
A birth of vtwobia, a novel space.
Unheard of, unprecedented, a world untold,
In the tapestry of threads, its story unfolds.

At least until they found out they can. Then they lost interest. Turns out a modern dinosaur is the humble chicken. At least they're cute. Your neo-Aztech movement could be modern culture trying to copy ancient trends whether they understand them or not. I'm seeing a revival in 18th century cooking where I live. Upon the starry seas they sailed,
The /vnug/ people, their destiny unveiled.
Summoned by a goddess-queen's divine decree,
To find a promised land, a home where they'd be free.

Gold and silver ships adorned the waves,
A quest for a haven, their souls to save.
In the lush, green forest, the sun's gentle kiss,
They built their first home, a place of bliss.

Yet, shadows crept beneath the trees,
Fierce wildlife roared, brought them to their knees.
Plagues and beasts, a relentless fight,
Their bodies molded for another land's light.

Abandoning their homes of gold and silver sheen,
To the treeless highland, a refuge unforeseen.
Scorching days and freezing nights,
Shelter for the battered in the mountain's heights.

Desolation ruled the barren land,
No food to feed the desperate band.
In pleading tones, they asked their queen,
For a glimmer of hope, a sight unseen.

With sorrow in her divine eyes, she wept,
A scepter of gold and silver she adeptly crept.
Enchanted with power, a beacon of rest,
Pointing the way, a journey's bequest.

"Happiness must be fought for," she declared,
In perilous journeys, courage bared.
Through trials and tribulations, their fate unknown,
The /vnug/ people ventured forth, seeds of hope sown.

In the spirit of Byron's verses so grand,
The saga of /vnug/ echoes across the land.
Myth and struggle, a tapestry unfurls,
As they navigate the cosmic seas, their fate twirls.

In an original fantasy setting I had dragons evolve from dinosaurs into their own species. On their own they learned chemistry. By chemistry I mean they learned how fire burns and what fire effects around it. And to have that understanding of chemistry eventually leads to language and math. Dragons grew smaller brains but their brains were folded and wrinkled. They even grew multiple brain systems for their big bodies. The downside was leading to a very long childhood but in return dragons had very long lives. The newer world dragons lost having strong impenetrable bodies in favor of more specialized bodies attuned to their environments. Like sea dragons losing wings in favor of flippers for example.

These were remnants of a dead project I had a very long time ago. Won't go into detail. But the idea was a what-if scenario if the K-2L extinction event didn't happen. How would dinosaurs evolve into beings of sentience?

Cool as hell, I can imagine ventilation is a huge concern in underground settlements, so that's a good thing to figure out. The idea of Shabestans is really neat, I didn't know about them but it makes a lot of sense. "Pumping" the air through by drawing it out with wind is pretty clever, I wonder how they came across that before fluid mechanics were figured out. I guess it makes some instinctive sense. Also neat how they're used to craft the soundscape of the cities, kinda like ambient music everywhere, that would be handy for setting scenes happening in them.
That quote from Invisible City caught me offguard, at first I thought that was an in-universe quote and taught "Italo Calvino? Interesting name, doesn't really sound vnugian" kek. It's a beautiful quote though, wonder if the book is a good read.

Conlanganon, are you around? Do you know anything about Sumerian, Akkadian or generally languages in the mesopotamian families? I'm thinking Vitwobian deadbeat language might draw from that a bit. Their Underworld mythology is pretty in-depth.

i wouldn't no shit for nothing about that, i don't deal in dead languages but i'm willing to learn a few things. do you need it to be a descendant of those languages (probably creole with another modern language, cause fuck it why not) or just a reconstruction?

I'm mainly aiming to capture the "vibes" of that language for the parts of it that are thematic. I'm thinking in the past the "Ereshkigal's Bizarre Adventure" language would have been exclusively used by some clergical class, and then words from that language would have been adopted en-masse by the wider population, which had been using something else (probably one of the more general holo languages). So in the current day the result is a fusion of the clergical Sumerian-feeling language and the other modern tongue. Does that make sense? That does sound like some manner of creole, if I understand that right.

>> No.66888444

>>66887603
however you plan on setting that up, sure. but i need to make a new discord or whatever assuming you plan on using that
>>66887749
i get what you mean. still, does this mean something of a reconstruction (like actual, unironic mesopotamian languages) or do you need something that phonologically mimics akkadian or smth and then steals words from it to sound cool? because i'm all for the former (could maybe be fun to me), but the ladder is possible if all you want is the phonaesthetics. if you mean whatever language could possibly be associated with ereshkigal, that would be sumerian, which we know quite a lot about, so it would also help your case for the former.
i really wanna do the former

>trips of 4
It's the number of Death, a good omen. Yeah, I would dig some kind of reconstruction, if you're up for it! My main "source" if we can call it that is the Descent of Inanna which is sumerian, it's fucking metal. Excerpt just for shit and giggles:
>Naked and bowed low, Inanna entered the throne room.
>Erishkigal rose from her throne.
>Inanna started toward the throne.
> The Annuna, the judges of the underworld, surrounded her.
> They passed judgement against her.
>Then Erishkigal fastened on Inanna the eye of death.
>She spoke against her the word of wrath.
>She uttered against her the cry of guilt.
>She struck her.
>Inanna was turned into a corpse,
>A piece of rotting meat,
>And was hung from a hook on the wall.
(In case it wasn't obvious, the idea is that Ereshkigal is the goddess of the dead and queen of the Underworld, so that's where the inspiration will come.)
Also, in terms of the written language, the writing method will consist of scraping the symbols onto soapstone with a hardened finger. I was thinking that could easily use a brand of cuneiform, but I'd be interested in what you come up with.

Yes, I did some reading on cave-diving and I think both ventilation and cooling are pretty important if you want to live deep underground! When I look into how people did that in pre-modern times I think the water- and wind-based methods both fits the natural environment of the caves and has a nice aesthetics so I blend them together for the architecture! Just ignore the fact that high humidity in caves also make these systems less effective
I think I might let my chuuni self out more this time around so aesthetics are important, though I don’t think the natural ambient sounds can be a full melody due to how they’re generated. I might toy with the idea of the first /vnug/ people (I should find a better name for them too) thinking it’s the noises of ghosts and demons living in the dark too
Invisible Cities is a nice read especially if you like atmospheric/esoteric scenery! I got into it when I was writing about space /vnug/ and it’s a big inspiration for me! That’s why the planets are named after the cities in the book It’s a pretty short read and I think I saw some Chinese sites uploading the whole text before

Practice of Magic in Morijigoku
The deadbeats of Vitwobia are intrinsically magical beings. Accordingly, mastery over the flow of Mori's magic comes to them naturally. This magic can take many forms, but universal in the population is at least control over their own body's supernatural properties. More trained practicioners are relatively widespread, with hobbyist-level magic being encountered daily in one's life in Morijigoku. It may be used to tune or diagnose the issues of commonplace magical tools or artefacts, such as light fixtures, cuneic sensors, or the many cooling devices employed throughout a normal home. More advanced implementations, such as more refined magical mechanisms, or military applications, are much rarer and mostly found only in the capable hands of trained wielders, such as those found in the temples of the Ilim (lit. Death's Radiance), graduates of the magical academies, or soldiers. Though this rarity is not due to some conscious restriction but rather because of the difficulty in obtaining this level of mastery.

There were so many machines I wanted to make with gravity but it broke laws of physics. Imagine how light and fluffy zero-G raised buns would be. That said the barley, oatmeal, and potato breads sounded like they'd be delicious. Though hard-tack might have been the money maker at the time. It depends on the size of the project. If you're planning on producing thousands at a time then you'll need some factory equipment. Otherwise a guild can produce a few hundred of a thing easily if its a street lamp. Now magic clothing is much more specific. I'd imagine it would be restricted to nobles, bishops, clerics, and knights since it'd cost more than a suit of armor to make. Clothes would be specialized to that combat or medical unit. Magic tools and weapons would most likely belong to the clergy or guild. You can borrow them but you can never buy or make them. Its how guilds justify your membership. Only they have the tools you need to make stuff. Badmouth the king or church and you're expelled with nothing.

A new Install appears!

Roca Rourin
>Nature: Devil; Dutch
>Origin: Endless
>Lv 1 - Catalyst (Song) - Weapon - No Cost - Creates a weapon that deals FOR Sound damage to all foes.
>Lv 2 - Devil's Dance - Active - 40 Drive - Apply [Evasion] (2t) to yourself. If this Evasion successfully activates, +1 AS on your next turn (you can only get +1 AS this way per round).
>Lv 3 - Echoing Thunder - Passive - No Cost - When one or more units take Sound damage from an ability you use, deal 1d4 Lightning damage to those unit(s).
>Lv 4 - Backbeat - Passive - No Cost - When one or more units take Sound damage from an ability you use, all allies in the same zone as you gain 3 Drive for each unit that took Sound damage.
>Lv 5 - Rhythm Casting - Passive - No Cost - When you use an Active ability, reduce that ability's Drive cost by 2 for each unit that has taken Sound damage from you since the end of your last turn.

Evasion is a condition that gives a 20% chance to dodge any incoming damage while it's active. While Roca doesn't have particularly strong numbers, she makes up for it in having a lot of coverage and utility.
This is the first Install I've designed for a chuuba I'm not familiar with, so this was an interesting concept to work with. Thanks to the original anon that suggested it.

Yeah, I think there would be some manner of a state-wide organization regulating magical engineering projects, maybe something like the College of Physicians and Surgeons some countries have. I think it'd be a secular org, since the religious class is concerned with les earthly matter than construction and more on the spiritual and esoteric applications of magic. Though there are many ties and overlaps between the two.

I was thinking that lots of magic clothing would be so purely for aesthetic purposes, which would make them up the alley of the rich. More expensive than a suit of armor is pushing it, but it's probably pricy enough to be out of reach for peasants and such.

In fantasy more exotic materials like silk, spun cotton, and astral weave are very expensive but are easy to weave enchantments into. Quilted cloth comes close. Howevet quilted cloth is heavy that its classified as light armor. Enchanted quilt armor is good for priests that aren't in combat roles since invoking divine magic doesn't risk spell failure. Quilt armor can be stuffed with feathers to make it winter gear.

Quilt armor became popular when small swords like foils and rapiers became the duelist's weapon of choice. The cloth was thick and heavy enough to block glancing blows. Though a clean slice or stab would still cut through.

Very different than the /become/ cults which believe manifestation of the divine in life is very possible.

That palm leave trick is kinda really nice for the survival on a deserted island scenario. With a thick enough leaf, if you fill it with fire you might be able to hold it over a fire. Oh yeah, filling it with fire wouldn't be too good at not burning it. I think from the video there was a line about how the stone method was good if you had a really big leaf because a big stone can hold a lot of heat, but heating the leaf directly might work better for something smaller because the smaller stones would cool too quickly to cook the soup easily.

Big wave of nerd shit incoming, so I hope you're ready for vDriver currency/EXP mechanics:
>When elements of the digital sea clash and intersect, Crystallized Power is created. These are rough gems, stones, or other fragments of energized material forged from various elements of the digital sea. These can be procured from mines, veins on the surface, or even found at the site of Driver battles in limited quantities. Crystallized Power can be used as a power source, used for restoration of various objects/resources from the Digital Sea, used as a currency by most merchants, or reforged by a Driver to increase their capabilities.
>At the end of an encounter involving a Driver, any Driver with more Drive than their Base Drive resets to their Base Drive, then gains CP equal to 10% of the overage. Between encounters, in addition to changing any of their currently-equipped Installs, a Driver can use their stockpiled CP to make trades/purchases, or synthesize a Rank-Up Mark. You can only synthesize 1 Rank-Up Mark per encounter, even if you have enough CP to synthesize multiple. Each Rank-Up Mark provides +1 Rank.
>Once your Rank is 20, further Rank-Up Marks can still be Synthesized, but they no longer have any effect. Only the first 19 Rank-Up Marks in your inventory will have any effect.

I'm fond of the idea that energy can be crystallized into a psudeocurrency that can be bartered with, or used as power source, so I merged the experience and economy systems. Since IRL most currencies are (theoretically) backed by materials that everyone wants internationally, this still leaves room for nations to have their own unique currencies. This also promotes the idea that passion, when combined with elements of the digital sea, is what generates this power in the first place, leading to open-ended writing questions like "is /hfz/ keeping the lights on by having gladitorial fights between Drivers" or "what's actually in those mines under /gem/".
While it's called "Crystallized" Power for mechanical consistency, the form it takes isn't necessarily a crystal, and could be other resources depending on the writer.
Originally, a Driver's Rank was going to be a traditional level system, but I thought it would be more interesting if the player could craft a physical device or "proof" that increased their power instead, similar to a Pokemon Gym Badge. By making these physical items, it opens up writing opportunities like a Driver getting stripped of their Rank due to a mishap, misstep, or misbehavior abroad, or Drivers trading around Rank-Ups for tactical or sentimental purposes.

actual kino, I like this a lot. So, that means players are incentivized to finish encounters with as much Drive as possible? If their Drive is lower than their Base Drive, they don't get healed to base? Do they still receive CP based on the average between the two (which would be a minimum of 50% of their Base Drive I guess).

>>67043001
Your drive gets reset to base either way. If you had lower drive than Base, you get nothing. I might add a safety mechanic later, or possibly turn it into an Advantage. Of course, since you can use EXP as currency, the inverse is true as well: people can pay you in stuff that you can turn into EXP, so battles aren't your only way to get Rank-Ups, and might not even be the bulk of where you get CP from.

Well whatever vDrivers are crystalized energy as currency is nothing new. Rupees in the Legend of Zelda are often used for powering up items since the original game. Arrows cost 1 rupee to shoot. There's also Magic Armor in Twilight Princess that takes hits at the expense of rupees. In Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosey Rupeeland rupees are your life.

Also trading bullets for things is a very common post apocalyptic currency. Well shots at bars in the wild west were called that because you traded a shotgun shell for a drink of whiskey. Ether and its crystal form in Xenosaga and Xenoblade are important commodities and fuel sources.

>> No.67044561

>>67044173
Oh, you get 0 CP even if it's lower by like 1 Drive point? That might put a lot of tension on trying to get Drive back to base before ending an encounter. Might be an interesting mechanic, might incentivize unintended player behaviours lol. You mean you might add an Advantage that lets you gain CP even if your Drive is lower than your BD?
Could be fun to play some kind of merchant characters who gets levels while barely doing any fighting at all, seems like this allows that.

>> No.67045475

>>67044561
Correct. This rewards combat-oriented characters for being good at combat. I also like the kind of non-combative or support-oriented character that offer undeniable team utility, but aren't as strong in a straight fight. While most Installs and the vDriver mechanics are oriented towards combat function, I want to give players the opportunity to get benefit from roleplay.

Man I'm tempted to make a Tsukumo Sana install about Austrailian shitposting. Shame she was more shitposty than Bae at debut. I wonder how a Ceres Fauna install would work.

That said Sana was about growing bigger than the sun. Outside of gravity and increase in size I don't know what role she'd serve unless you can make a beeg gravity troll. Though trolling might be against the spirit of the game.

That said Fauna might be interesting as her Kirin powers manipulate nature. She wouldn't be a direct combat unit but an environmental one. Though I'm just going by lore rather than Fauna's personality herself.

The installs are supposed to be more centered around their lore abilities than their personality as a streamer, although obviously the streamer personality does influence things (which helps them be distinct).
Sana would probably be about spatial control, moving people and stuff around.
Fauna would be a bunch of field gimmicks, raising plants and greenery to boost other capabilities. Basically forcing a home field advantage.

What does a vDriver grid look like? Is it a D&D kinda thing, or a bit bigger?

Kinda fits with Fauna's personality to be nurturing and protective to her allies.

actually this sounds like how schizos may gain power, not by any worship but by draining chuubas for their antiing

Together we can build a world free of catalog schizos. I believe in this general

Do Mio's arcane divinations appear anywhere in lore? I'm surprised that there hasn't been an attempt to make a tarot general based off of how accurate some of her readings were.
>Rushia's was that her emotional state would probably cause her a lot of trouble and that she'd need to control it
>Mel's was that she'd need to watch what she said and who she says it to and that certain things would no longer fly just because "she's Mel"

vDriver is played on a hexgrid, but there's no size limit to how big or small the field could be.

vdriver sounds more like a wargame than a rpg, would be pretty sick to see anons playing against each other in the thread but maybe my rules comprehension is a bit slow.

Happy Birthday, /vtwbg/! It's been a wild ride with plenty of ups and downs, but I'm glad I got to spend the past two years with all of you. We had a bit of a slump, but now that our momentum's back let's make the most of it! This new setting is full of potential for more exploration and new ideas, so here's to another year of worldbuilding, and hopefully a lot less drama this go around. For anyone who wants a trip down memory lane, here's the post that started it all: >>/vt/thread/16710105

That's what I wanted from you, make everything grammatically consistent, thank you. Maybe the noun entry for "usreap" should read "killing" instead of "to kill"? I'll come up with more words later.
