It didn't start off well at first but thanks to PekoMoona and the debut of HoloEN which made Hololive more international, ID started getting more traction. By the time gen 2 appeared, ID received a huge boost due to Reine's backing and support which made ID sustainable. Now with Niji-ID on a rapid decline, Holo ID can dominate the market, which they did, especially after gen 3 where Kobo manages to cater to the Indo audience relatively well.

There's plenty of Japanese investment in Korea and even in China. China I understand after the whole taiwan incident, but I don't understand why there isn't a branch in Korea. I assume they just go to Indonesia because it's low cost, even if the whole project fails, they just write it off and move on.

Indonesia is an emerging market; basically, there's a ton of potential customers; even if you only get a bit of the population as fans, that's millions of viewers. Also it's not a particularly heavy investment. You only need to invest in model and rigging essentially; once that is done, everything that comes is extra. With the Hololive brand it practically pays itself after a while. Same reason at this point it could make sense to have a Latin American branch. Not that it's the top priority but if it happens, it would not be surprising at all (Idol did open ES auditions, for example).
