I cried a little bit, not at the ending itself but the post-credits scene. It had to do with how it represents the belief that positive change is possible.
Had the ending just been the protagonist waking up to the same exact life, I would have been let down because it just means that we're endlessly repeating and nothing really matters. (Essentially another loop.) Instead, the protagonist and their friends manifested something entirely new, and perhaps better. And that's touching.

Really liked the part where you get Solanum's "instrument" too, with the nomai skeletons symbolically helping you reach it with the shuttle. That's how it felt all game long, you stepping on the shoulders of giants to finally accomplish what they set out to do all those years ago. Glad we have games with this kind of positive, yet not naive outlook. Yes, shit sucks sometimes, but that's why you gotta make the best of it. (And appreciate the efforts of those who came before.)

I still tear up every time I watch someone beat the game. The ending really puts into perspective the sheer amount of cumulative willpower through generations and generations of advancement and tragedy it took to get one single individual in a ramshackle ship literally duct taped together out of bits of wood into the specific place they needed to be to leave the tiniest imprint from one dying universe onto the next. And it's always fun to chill around the campfire one last time with all the little Hearthian astronauts that made it possible.
