1. learning how to gradually improve improve with pencil and ink drawings and leveling up your draftsmanship with those will get you faster towards drawings you can like more and see improvement from, which is encouraging. things like painting and color can be put off for later on

2. people who work/ed in animation (or those who are similar to how animators think) and are good at life drawing are the most efficient to learn from because they had to find the most practical ways to learn how to construct drawings from imagination. mike mattesi has a beginner's gesture drawing book. steve huston isn't an animator but he constructs figure drawings a lot like them. copying their step by step process and all the drawings from their books (easily found on libgen) helps you understand better their mental process and what they're trying to teach to a beginner. many learn by copying the drawings of high-level artists they like the most and it's the closest one can get to peeking at what their thinking was
