SDXL looks fine at first glance, then you actually look at the details and it's got lots of artefacts and errors. Comparable to 1.5, which is saying something considering how low detail and flat anime XL models tend to be to begin with.
And it seems pretty mediocre at backgrounds too.
It is better at getting details that usually need inpainting "ok" on the first pass. It has more knowledge, so it is better at things that 1.5 barely knows (and doesn't have LoRas for).

What you have is a much stronger text encoder, a broader knowledge of concepts and a higher base resolution.
And a better ability to do two characters without extensions (1.5 can do it too, but it does have almost unavoidable significant bleed without Two Shot / Regional)
Outside of that I'm seeing the same failings of old 1.5 models. Bad hands, random bits of colour, nonsensical clothing, inconsistent background lines, etc.
What we need is an upgrade to 1.5, XL is a massive mis-step and it will set AI image generation back months if not years.

NAIv3 which is trained on SDXL makes that argument invalid, when it's better at styles, prompt following, characters (if they were in the database) etc than any 1.5 model.

The issue of NAIV3 is that is close source, so no customization. A model like that being open source would basically make a new revolution like naiv1 was. SD1.5 based models would stop being kinda used (except if you can't run SDXL because hardware)

Naiv3 weakness besides no customization are backgrounds, but i would take it easily to get what I'm actually prompting without the need to inpaint every other gen.

I'm just really sad that model won't be ever released to be used locally.

you'll need to rebuild 1.5 if you want it to properly match XL

I think it's just a preference thing some people enjoy the total flat style NAI others don't. I am one of those who prefer your model stuff better. That being said can't argue that it can do a ton of concepts off the bat which is tempting (I don't have it though and never plan on getting it). Now that we have something like that on Local though with LoRAs and mixing we can probably take it pretty far.

With SegmentAnything trained on splitting an image in multiple body part layers and then outpainting around each one to cover for missing parts when moving, it should be possible. As long as the layers are named correctly, the l2d app tries to do auto-rigging on the body parts and while it's shit tier, it's just moving around sliders like in the sims games to tune it.

Yes, it's simple and tedious at the same time. Depending on the number of layers and motions there could be a few hundred sliders for different deformations, physics, some sliders are on x-y axis, some need to trigger only on certain events and so on. But I would say having the layers is half the job done.

is a good resource of reading. depends how good your dataset is. You can test out my settings if it's not too good (<70% fanart). Just don't fall into the trap of reading too much and doing too little. You can learn more from 4 failed loras trained in 15 mins each than reading up for 1hr.

I saw that LoRA but I couldn't use it properly, I tried some IPAdapter for the first time and it kept crashing my PC so I left that gen idea on hold. Biboo's new outfit is so detailed and cute!! so cute!!! and I couldn't get some basic parts correctly by using only the LoRA, but I'm sure it was more of a skill issue than anything else.
About the idea thing, after a while I finally learned how to consistently do darker gens but I'm all out of creativity for that one.

The settings are meant for character loras that get baked easily due to bad dataset so you will probably have more lenience to increase some of the numbers.
I highly recommend you go through the document you linked before, first and read it once.

NTA. I'm pretty sure the limit in SDXL models is not the billions of tokens they understand but the poor understanding and conceptualization of logic between the clip models and the unet, together with the lacking refinement of the model on visually appealing illustrations and anime images.
A model will load up 12gb of vram sitting idle regardless if it has 6 milion ponies in it or 0. The end result is just a 0.7263637437 becoming 0.745236432 when you mention the word pony. The number was there before and it remains there after the training, it's just changed. I bet your SD1.5 model already knows what a pony is, it will just draw a brown mini-horse. As for capturing as much information as possible, just look at hll. it has 100 chuubas and 1000 styles fit in an 800mb lora, meanwhile a character lora is 32 mb so it's a waste of space.
If you want to have fun, just download a bunch of Uma Musume characters, find out what are the pony tags they used and overwrite them with a lora with Uma musume girls. Job done, you overwrite all of the pony training with anime girls.

I'm not on either side of things but I just want to see where things go.

Afaik you can nest them. As an easy example, you need 3 wildcard files.
1 wildcard file is prompt.txt contains "in a forest, sitting"
1 wildcard file is chuuba.txt contains "<lora:chuubaa:1> long hair, blue eyes"

I'm too dumb to make it work how I want it to do (with two separate workflows). It also seems to break the moment I give it a lora or try loading EF on both PCs.
The tiled latent workflow might be useful but with 1 card being slower than the other it would probably end up having one card finishing in 10 sec and the other in 30 sec so the full image takes 30 sec but If I were to upscale on just the fast one it would be only 20 sec so no point in doing that.

You don't even need to nest anything for this, provided I'm understanding your question correctly. You can write a ton of things into a single wildcard entry since the wildcard selection chooses an entire line. One of my oldest wildcard files is this thing that has a bunch of holos in it using the prompts from that old rentry (I imagine I can probably update it now, newer models might need more/less tagging)
