I've been thinking about Miko's increase in both skill, numbers and just personality. She's just a better version than anyone else at the moment. And I think I have a general explanation and it's not what you expect. With Covers bowing down to China again, Miko has gotten a massive boost from all the returning previously scorned fans. This is to be expected since she has never failed to tow the line between the mainland and the island, she is loved in Taiwan but she is equally loved in the mainland, a large part if not a majority of her fan base comes from China, which is why she is so successful overseas.
And with the set of the unification not far in the future it's like cover have chosen Miko as their ambassador to a unified China.
Add to that, this is the year of the Dragon. The dragon is basically synonymous with China as a country. And with that it's easy to see that this Year of the Dragon is in fact a year of China and a Year of Sakura Miko. She will shatter all previous records this year.

I discussed this in an archived thread but what Cover was trying to do with DEV_IS was an attempt to compete with the NijiJP audience. Not in the sense of being more open to male collabs and things like VCR GTA (though that's part of it) but in terms of marketing towards riajuu. This is why there's no lore and they're all just regular humans, and why Raden has a unique josei-esque design.

This failed because they weren't clear about what they were trying to pull off so they not only scared off the core Hololive audience but weren't that successful in drawing in a new audience (except with Raden). The ReGLOSS girls are starting to find their own footing but that's despite Cover autism, and Hajime and Kanade in particular basically found the "niche" of just acting like normal Hololive members.
