When hit, characters take knockback decided by a base knockback value and knockback growth that factors in a kbg multiplier and their weight. However, after getting hit, the trajectory is up in the air.
Depending on how it’s implemented, characters will either fly on the same arc for the same amount of knockback (eg. 80 knockback looks the same for character 1 as it does for character 2) or have that be character dependent (eg. 80 knockback for character 1 looks like 60 knockback for character 2). The latter is what makes throws in melee character dependent (eg. Puff up throw is guaranteed to combo into rest on Fox (pending DI) but not on Kirby; or Marth ditto fthrow doesn’t send into knockdown at 0% but it does when throwing Fox).

My current approach has standardized the gravity post-launch for consistency’s sake, to avoid people living too long if heavy or dying too fast if light

Naraka announced that she will be playing SF6 against Botan. Botan will prepare with Dogura and she will play using Lily. Naraka will use Ken. Botan has practiced a lot offline, with about 150 hours in training and playing many casual games everyday, but Naraka is already a master with Juri and even though Ken is her second character, it would be a miracle if Botan improves enough to not end up humiliated again. I hope she doesn't end up unmotivated.

Today I fixed up shielding so it looks correct and also made sure that parries have a minimum of 6 frames of recoil (might make that more if jabs prove useless to parry, or even make it function per box rather than as a formula).
I also worked some on fluffy and fuzzy, who run like dogs!

Also, I downloaded Nick All Stars Brawl 2 because it was on sale. Perhaps someone in this thread has played it before and can chime in, but from my perspective, the game feel like it wants to do too much on top of the base smash formula, and ends up doing it all poorly. Meter and air smash attacks are cool, but often times they're just outclassed by normal aerials, or come off as dumb cheese. The animation also sucks at doing its job again, which is sad because I thought it was better than the previous game! I'm borrowing effectively nothing from it, except for stuff that I was already using that just so happens to also be in it.

See I would agree with you if certain characters simply didn’t stall when charging. Only some do. For the character I’ve been playing, Azula, I’m always thinking “ok why would I use up strong when up air covers more range, has less lag, hits harder than the uncharged strong, and comes out faster?” There’s never s reason to use up strong other than I guess a mixup(?), though I’ve not run into any cases where refusing to go for the guaranteed followup isn’t the best option. It’s not a 50/50 like smash 4.

Every other character seems to embody the same archetype of rushdown brawler, and most rounds look exactly the same, played at the exact same distances fishing for wish punishes or frametrap gimmicks until one of them hits the wall and instantly fucking explodes.

My wish is obviously not coming true and chuubas are gonna flock to Kekken like gay bees to semen-flavored honey. I truly hope I can learn how to entertained by it.

Botan did quite well against Naraka. Botan had good setups and Naraka didn't know how to respond to many of Lily's attacks, although she adapted. Botan played against Naraka's Juri at the end, suffered a few perfects but was worthy.
They talked that it would be good to do something Holo x Niji in SF6 before Momo leaves, but it's just an empty idea.
