Am I the only one that thinks the avatar looks really blurry? It isn't nearly as crisp or neat as the rest of EN. The nose and outfit is pretty bad, but the blurriness ruins it further for me.

I don’t think I have any other reason, and I want to see her grow. My opinion could change or become stronger in the future

Y'know, I'm not in the camp that thinks she's actually bad in any way, but after a few tries for some reason something rubbed me the wrong way. After thinking about it for a while, it finally hit me - she's an English Dub.

It's this sense of...I dunno, those subtle quirks of localization where the person they hired is skilled enough to do anything the director asks for, but the director kinda phoned it in with a lip sync obsession and the translator's low-mid power level on a tight deadline. So if you already watched the subbed version then this localization just sounds wrong and maybe a bit stilted, but if your entry point was the dub then everything sounds like it should and you've found your waifu. It's not like all dubs are bad though. If the translator actually interprets the cultural quirks instead of being a slightly better machine translation, and if the director actually understands that you can't just get the VA to copy-paste whatever they did in Japan, you can get some damn good dubs that match and on rare occasions exceed the source material.

So, I dunno how to really explain it. I can't even really say she's a "copy" of other Holos, even though she's clearly copying some things. It just feels like her first impression is someone who was tuned for an audience with similar interests, but subtly different expectations.

She has Japanese sensibilities that can speak English. That's it. It's as if Noel or Matsuri suddenly is able to speak English.
