Finally streaming with a mic; I used to feel pretty bad about my own voice and manner of speech to the point where I avoided talking as much as possible because of how I heard myself in recording, getting the push from certain people to stream led to me no longer feeling bad about how I sound to other people, and I was surprised at how many seemed to enjoy listening to me speak. That, and improving at art are the two crowning achievements of this year.

I've been streaming with a $50.00 capture card from Amazon and it works ok for me, but I also have scan lines and tearing and stuff occasionally. it was supposed to be 4k but it's very clearly maxed out far below that.

for me I'm OK with it, it's not affecting my ability to show games on stream, especially since I play more retro games and switch game with lower resolutions, but that may be different for you.

-Cheap capture cards will have issues, either OBS won't capture anything, the software is trash, you'll have audio issues, video issues or worse, it will fry itself because it cannot handle the input signal.
-a composite to HDMI converter for xbox/ps2 (about 40 bucks), for PS3/360 and newer consoles you don't need the converter, just an HDMI cable.
-an upscaler if you want to stream ps1/n64 games (about 300 bucks or more)
If you really wanna cheap out, buy a used capture card off ebay (I got an elgato internal capture card for 80 bucks in near mint condition).

I just got into VTubing this year. I used to hate streaming and made my own PNGTuber which has been met with great success. Doubling my viewcount as well as making me far more interested in streaming consistently.

I want to make a proper model and move away from PNGTuber Plus. Are there tutorials on how to get into this? I checked out Live2d but I don't know if I can justify the subscription cost just yet. I'm not *that* successful.

I've used this exact capture card for majority of my game streams so feel free to reference the quality in my vods. like I said, it's far from perfect, but for me it works. desu the scan lines look kinda cool when playing retro games, almost like I did it on purpose.

warning though I forgot to mention idk how good the audio is. it has 035mm jack for headphones that you could use that has clean audio, but it was kinda slightly crunchy and not the best coming from the video until I applied some filters. you may have to fuck around with it to make it sound OK, but regardless you are still going to take a small L on audio quality as well.

depends on what you prioritize, but for me it was all stuff I was OK to sacrifice to save a buck.

As far as videos are concerned? there are 5+ videos I would recommend. I watched them as I went through and when I needed them. But making sure your model is cut correctly as >>65551615 has pointed out is really important. having to go back to edit a model because it isn't cut right can really mess with your process.

I would start with this for the most basic of basics for live2d then after that just look on youtube based on what you want like live2d head xy rig would be an easy search.

I still regret not being able to stream this year, it's always "just hit start streaming" but I wish I could. Either i'm too anxious or I want my first time to be memorable because if it isnt then people /here/ would never check back on the next streams. But also the fear that i'll get called by my old guys to do something for 2 hours or that they get too curious and INTERACTS with the stream which would just make me want to off myself more. Can't even do it at night, apparently I woke my whole familly up last time I called a friend.
