She is wary, but I don't think terrified at this point. Just not really in the know about cons in the present day post pandemic. But people in our neck of the woods are more cautious than most, and what are vtubers but just ascended geeks to be perfectly blunt. You ever used ytarchive to download currently streaming videos? You ever ctrl+c to stop it from recording before it finishes and seen that it gives you the option to restart the download later? I figured out that you can basically "fool" it into grabbing the specific fragments of the video that's streaming if you make the same files it uses to track where it left off. You could technically look at the github source code and see how it actually queries youtube for these fragments more elegantly, but this works well enough for me to fetch whatever I want at will.
I used to start recording 5 minute chunks but this required me to have started watching the stream from the beginning to even try to cut anything, same with mpv player since it relies in having it cached, but this works so much better.
