At this point are DIY builds really any cheaper than just getting a prebuilt, especially one on sale? A friend of mine told me about a month ago he bought parts for a build during the black friday “sales”, I don’t remember most of the specs besides it having a 4080Ti in it but I know he said it cost him a little over $3000, while a prebuilt I’d been eyeing from a major manufacturer had an i9-13900K and a 4090 among similar specs for other parts for about $2900.
But was my friend just retarded or is building your own PC really a meme these days? Admittedly I’ve only ever bought one prebuilt and I’ve never built my own PC so I have no experience.

I'd say no but that would be basing myself off the prices where I live. I got my rig way cheaper than a prebuilt, GPU and all (an RTX 3050). Despite some hiccups in the past (old disk drive was acting up) its lasted me a year and a half so far with no big issues. Buying a "gaming" laptop here costs you a fucking liver when it just has a GT 1030 or less than an RTX.

Prebuilts tend to blind you with big flashy pieces upfront, while hiding how a lot of other parts like the motherboard or power supply are shoddy cheap shit. Which can either end up as a bottleneck or effect it's lifespan.

Mio laments not being able to stream on her channel much this week. When making schedules, Mio strives to find a balance between streams and breaks. It can be a hassle but Mio thinks there's a lot of benefits to making schedules. Mio jokes about her schedule preventing her from suddenly taking breaks, says everything is fine.

>Werewolf collab
Korone was the organizer but she requested Mio to be the game master, which Mio happily obliged. Mio recalls how she forgot to say what the fortune teller did at first which led to the restart. Mio says she had to deliberate on the rules especially with the player skill gap, like whether or not the knight is able to protect the same target for multiple nights in succession. The first real game was village-favored but Mio thought the second game with the added roles was quite werewolf-favored. While giving a disclaimer that she knew everyone's roles, Mio recaps the second game and says it's not hard to discern the werewolves if you really think about it. Assuming the villagers didn't lie:
-The two werewolves, most of the time, wouldn't overlap role claims
-Three fortune teller claims (Roboco, Polka, Korone) means one madman, one werewolf, and the real fortune teller
-Two santa claims (Fubuki, Miko) means one werewolf and the real santa
Polka and Korone say Matsuri is white while Roboco says Fubuki is white. Fubuki was then executed and Botan was eaten; Haachama (medium) claims Fubuki as white and Korone claims Miko as black. As the remaining santa claim, Miko is most likely werewolf if Haachama and Korone are to be trusted. Mio later praises Okayu for following up Botan's claim as knight to obscure their roles. Mio notes Polka's mischeviousness including her claim on the executed Korone as black, which was contested by both viewers and players but never brought up again afterwards. And then, because Roboco was controlling the situation, the others wondered if she was actually the werewolf but Mio thinks most of them just rely on their feelings and insticts too much. Like how they let Miko live after Korone and Haachama's claims.

Mio appreciates how silly and passionate the holos are when they played werewolf, tryharding in werewolf can be quite scary. Everyone has their preferences but Mio likes seeing holo just enjoy themselves and be absurd, like Polka and Miko bringing up crazy what-if situations to throw off everyone else including their own teammates. Mio had actually planned to do 3 hours worth of games while going more slowly but couldn't because other holos had other streams already planned.

>Mio Scenario
What would Mio do? She'd go on the santa claims first because it's a 50/50, then find out the real fortune-teller after. Mio talks about why she doesn't join as a player herself, saying she sucks at lying and leans too much on making the stream feel interesting and would end up getting accused and swiftly executed. Mio believes she's not that charismatic, she can't get others to trust her words and freezes easily when countered. Mio wants to play with 13 people but thinks that's immensely difficult to do so she imagines an 11-people game and how it'd throw the balance of the game. Mio thinks it makes it less punishing on the werewolf side for making mistakes, such as not finding out the knight first. On the other hand, everyone has a possibility of doing their job one more time so it's not impossible for werewolves to lose.

In the middle of all this, Mio makes a little tangent about Namacha Rich Tea and how delicious it is, there's parts that resembles matcha even though it's normal tea.

Lots of recordings and lessons for Mio during this period, Mio is particularly troubled by the dance routines she needs to practice. Other than that, there's the AyaFubuMi new years stream, and much sooner is the christmas utawaku relay. Just like the previous years, she'll be monitoring everyone to make sure it all goes smoothly and act as a backup frame. You never know what could happen.

>Japanese winter
Mio realizes a lot of holos have gotten sick and wonders if people are getting sick all over Japan, mane-chan even warned Mio to be mindful of her health. Mio considers humidity control to be the number one priority so she's set humidifiers to keep humidity above 50% in all of her rooms. And when the humidity is still below the treshold, she'll add another humidifier to raise it. Won't the windows get wet? Mio hasn't it seen it get wet so it should be fine, it only gets wet around maybe 80%. Mold is also not a problem, it's only if you keep it above 70% humidity. Mio thinks 50-60% is the best for winter, as Japan's humidity levels tend to fluctuate as the seasons change. One downside is having to refill the water often, Mio's massive humidifier which can hold 6-8 liters of water runs out in just about 12 hours. It's also pretty loud. The cats? They're fine with it.

>Appliances and gadgets
Mio wonders if she should humidify her recording booth as well but the Daikin AC seems to have that taken care of. It's around 400k yen but she was able to write it off as expenses thanks to her accountant. Mio believes it'll last forever so it's a worthwhile purchase. Mio would like her PC to last forever as well but people have said otherwise which makes her worry. Chat tells her PCs are like consumable goods, 5 years is a long life for one. Mio thinks her 1,5 year old PC should still be good for a while since her storage is still empty but asks chat what should be signs of concern.

>Taking a break
Mio says she's feeling fine but might want a break sometime soon. She wants to take a long break but fears about forgetting how to stream, among other things. Mio feels the recent burnout has to do with the collab projects she's been doing. There's so much preparation that the moment the stream ends she just collapses. She's so exhausted that when she met up with mane-chan during recording the other day she ended up not being able to respond much, only saying はい or yes. Mio knows mane-chan understands but Mio still feels sorry to mane-chan for being a single-task urufu.

Mio apologizes for getting the utawaku relay info out much later than usual and talks about the difficulty of scheduling the relay, it's like being a restaurant manager trying to figure out everyone's shifts. Mio thinks that's one of the biggest reason for the burnout as everyone's schedules seemed to keep changing. That being said, she only needs to watch over everyone now so she should be able to rest easy for a bit.

She'll be doing more marika practice streams and there will be another collab project on the 30th. She's been practicing roughly every day but getting above 8k-10k rating is a struggle. Mio thinks her item luck is horrible and it's better for her to stay ahead from the start. Rivals? Probably OkaSuba, Mio thinks Suisei is still out of her league. She's planning to use her tarot cards again to determine if the courses she likes are good picks. Other than that, she'll need to improve her mental game and stay composed. New years party at her place will hopefully be with Fubuki and Okayu.

>Traveling
Mio talks about her day trip to Kyoto which made her realize the best way for her to like traveling alone. Previously, she would feel really lonely especially when staying multiple nights. As her hotel room would often not be a single bed room, Mio would feel really lonely seeing the empty bed next to her when she's just laying in bed trying to watch TV. The Kyoto trip was a blessing because she didn't have to stay at a hotel or worry about the cats. She was able to book a shinkansen trip in the morning, arrive in Kyoto at noon, and then come back home before the day ended. Deciding on methods of travel was also easier and she didn't have to worry about going too slow or too quickly. Mio got a lot of goshuin from the shrines there. Mio recommends trying a day trip for places where you just walk around all day like Kyoto. Mio moves to talk about trying night buses as apparently you get a private space now. Night trains are also on the list but she'd like to get someone to travel with her. MikoSubaMio trip is planned but she can't say where or when they'll be going, please look forward to it either way. It's not a mystery tour either this time, as she often blurts out the secret. Mio thinks she sucks at lying, or at least consults others about things too much.

>Past travels
Mio recalls where else she went this year: Hokkaido with Okayu, Kusatsu, Kagoshima with MikoSuba, and Shikoku with Ayame and Fubuki. The AyaFubuMi trip had a few last minute changes as they weren't traveling alone, which forced them to make it a day trip. They had to board the plane at 6 AM, which gave Mio an idea for AyaFubuMi to stay at a hotel near the airport the day before just to be safe. And the day before that, when traveling to the hotel after dinner, they had an encounter with a gaijin taxi driver who didn't have the best Japanese and dropped them off in a really weird place. Plenty of experience from these trips; her trip to Kusatsu was actually the first time she's been there despite being from Gunma.

She'll be making a christmas cake tomorrow. She bought a castella which is basically the same as sponge cake so that's what she'll be decorating tomorrow. She plans to make at least the fresh cream tomorrow and wonders if she can substitute the fridge cooling with just a cooler box. Chat says use the fridge and to listen to the instructions for western confectionery. Mio thinks she won't be able to eat the whole thing in one go, she's already planning to split it between a couple of days. She'd like to do her usual "here's the finished product" skit but getting a whole other cake would lead to many problems, she probably won't fit her idol outfit if she ate that much. Even one cake has too many calories? Too bad, she's already decided on eating it. Mio ends with her worrying if the local supermarket still has strawberries.
