Partially agree with you since Rush style and Dragon of Dojima style are kinda ass without heat. Later games chronologically do lot better with the heat system. 3 was miserable. Everyone constantly blocks so you barely generate any Heat and when you do have Heat you have to deal with how picky the game is with it's heat prompts.
In 4 you start playing as Akiyama and you easily unlock 50 ways to taunt enemies for a lot of Heat and also all his fast moves generate a ton of Heat.
