In the mainstream culture it is still considered nearly impossible to be a virgin after 22, male or female. Men are going to be just as incredulous. The stereotype for a long term virgin is someone who is just hideous, like a 1 or a 2. If you're a normal looking guy and graduated college without fucking that just does not compute for most of the population. If you have the same social impulses as them it should have happened by now.
