Relying on chat interaction is not good. Continue to play the games you like and stray away from Just Chatting until you have like 20ccv and an active discord of your streams to warrant it. It's embarrassing to start stream and be an anxious mess because you're waiting on some poor lurker to reply. It's best to mitigate any mistakes or micro attacks that could make you seem boring or desperate. You should network by chatting on other people's streams but don't expect people to come back and do the same. It's also good to chat in other VTuber's chats who have the same interests as you rather than the circlejerk here. It's nice to do it out of friendship, don't get me wrong, but it's good to explore other channels and capture the hearts of other viewers. As for seeming more confident, you kind of have to put yourself in the place of a viewer, which is why I suggest watching people who stream the same category as you. If you can understand why you stay in a stream, it'll help you out in being less nervous. Try to take some of the traits of the vtubers who are similar to you and understand why it works for them and shape it for what you want in your stream.

you can absolutely survive without chat. try to talk about shit, even if it's not really anything. I went on a small tangent tonight that for sure when nowhere, and I immediately felt like an idiot to the 3 or 4 people watching, but I'm still glad I did it because at least it was something to fill the void. next time it'll be more insightful.

I bet when you're with your bros you're probably a chill funny guy, but when you're on stream youre nervous and it's hard to get that part of you out there. if so, you're not alone. just pretend youre with your bros and it will feel more natural. I feel a little better every time. plus before you know it more people will be watching and you'll live without it
