The four largest groups in the world are Hololive, Nijisanji, VSPO, and Vshojo in that order. VSPO would have been the perfect sacrificial lamb. They’d fit perfectly up there since they’re bigger than vshojo, and nobody would be mad or embarrassed if they lose since they’re the only one without an EN branch.
That’s also why they didn’t get nominated, since I think that was also based on fan vote. But it would have been a much more dignified choice than making Idol go through all that embarrassment.

I think it’s both. Hololive is way less insular than anons here think, but it was still insular enough for me to get sick of it and wander elsewhere. But if it were truly that insular, then I shouldn’t have made it back when Advent debuted.
The truth is, HoloEN is influenced by Twitch and indies more than anons think, and vice versa. The small corpos I watched were influenced by Hololive. Hell, it’s probably because I avoided anyone who wasn’t at least a 3view, but even the twitch indies I saw liked Hololive. They just didn’t see that style of vtubing as something they fit, rather than dislike the content or the talents.
“Insular” is much more extreme than people think. It means the tribalfags don’t interact much with the wider fanbase, and even on /vt/ that’s not true. Those of us who split time between Hololive and other corpos just don’t say anything about it because we don’t want to sound like shills

I think the idea of Hololive being insular has mainly been the result of a loud and vocal minority of Holo-onlies here and in other places combined with Cover seemingly being more averse to collabs with groups outside of Hololive.
