A Japanese Vtuber, who claims to be the world's oldest independent Vtuber, released for free the opening to their book: Metaverse Evolution Theory

A self described Metaverse Evangelist, I can't tell how much of her rhetoric is hyperbolic in comparison and how much of it actually boarders on concepts of the spiritual.

I see the revolution brought about by the metaverse as a prelude to evolution. Of course, in the metaverse, we will not become immortal, and eradicating sickness and death in this physical reality is still in the distant future. However, within this limited scope, we can already achieve such possibilities in this digital virtual realm. We can redesign our bodies, our self-perception, our society, and the universe itself. It is a preliminary stage before becoming “gods” in physical reality. We may even say that the simulation to judge ourselves has begun.
Following Harari’s lead, I want to call the emerging “metaverse natives” who are quickly adapting to that world and exhibiting entirely new lifestyles and cultures a new human species called “Homo Metaverse.” Observing this mutation could provide a clue to the future direction of humanity.

There's a few Japanese people out there who are really big into virtual reality, in particular virtual social worlds, being the next step of reality or something and embracing it. This is the oldest video on thier channel, uploaded Sep 20, 2017, which is consistent with their claims of starting in 2017. When did vtubing even begin to get popular, become something people actually started doing seriously? I know very little about vtubing to be frank.

It's not limited to that, in the introduction of his book posted on medium for instance he compares people living in metaverse to gods.
There's also shit like posting infographics on how everyone should become a little girl in Virtual reality to become happy, and how being a little girl in virtual reality makes you mentally one over time.
While Zuck being what the mainstream think "metaverse" is about is definitely a bad thing, having people like Nem sharing their vision is just as detrimental

Modern day Japan, at least in hyper urbanised areas, is the corporate cyberpunk dystopian nightmare straight from GitS but without the cool shit. The fake pretend world and gf (male) is less of hell than their daily reality so they spend every waking hour in it.
