When upscaling for 1.5x using tiled diffusion with controlnet tile + balanced mode at 0.15 denoising my gens lose detail and colors, is that to be expected?
CFG 7, 512x512 tile size (on the resize to menu) and 96 latent tile width and height on tiled diffusion.
Is this to be expected or am I doing something wrong?

The concept of ruins taken by nature is one of my favorites, so I had to give it a try. It was both fun and a learning experience doing those. Lovell's mechanical parts gave me some trouble, not gonna lie... I had to use the default "mecha musume" design. You may find some design inconsistencies vs her design sheet as well.
Hands are always tricky, mechanical hands are even worse.

Yeah I use latent coupling to split up the canvas and prompt the girl in it. Also I use it in conjunction with control net.
I also use photoshop to build the scene if I need to as per request and have control net animeline pot the characters and latent couple to flesh them out.

It's not about having a specific lora, it's about the fact that the lora maker only downloaded images from gelbooru (which had like 20 images and some not even tagged with "uruha_rushia_(kimono)", while I found 70 on twitter
It can all be done in one lora if you train on a dataset with a folder for each outfit and tune the captions correctly so they don't overlap

I know how multi-concept loras are done. Did some myself. Image number above 30-40 is irrelevant as long as they're good, though I would personally go for yandere instead of gelbooru for quality. However, I would more happily train 9 different loras than trying to combine 9 outfits into one and deal with cross-poisoning. It's just not worth the trouble to try and fix it later with tags when you can have a single file that can do its job correctly by itself and with self-adding outfit tags when you click it.

I do think some people are under the impression that high quality art is relevant for a character lora, it really isn't. Lower quality art can be used to pad the dataset and prevent style burn-in, as long as you don't have a substantial amount of just incorrect images that end up diluting details. It's all about consistency, and when how2drawmanga faces are outliers they just get thrown out with the basic shape retained.

I few months back I did try and use a vae merger but I don't think it works like model merging where if yo merge 2 vaes 50/50 you'll get a vae that will make the image output between the vaes.

Unfortunately ritaballs doesn't seem that reliable. Setting at 1.5 weight will get balls reliably appearing but they're rarely accurate. They'll usually end up someth9ing like this.

Nomalization has a subtle effect.

IMO, it depends on the composition.
The strong contrast of Recenter may not be suited for all gens, like indoors in daytime.
Personally, if I'm enabling Recenter, I'll use it at full strength. Intermediate values seems to have some blur and weird colours to me.
Normalization however, is a more subtle effect, and I'm adding it by default to all my future gens.
As for choosing a VAE, I'd consider the following factors:
Skin tone (warm, cold, even pinkish)
White balance
Contrast
Sharpness (eg: z-vae has pretty sharp lines and edges)
Saturation (NAI has lower saturation, while z-vae has higher saturation)

Interesting observations. I think you're right that if you're using Recanter full strength or bust is best. Using it at night alleviates the need for stuff like the Darkness lora which is nice. I think right now I'm feeling partial to z-vae too with the sharpness. Enabling normalization seems to minimize a lot of the overbaking the typically occurs with my model.
