JP can be just as cliquey if not more so, mainly because of the whole talent agency shit. Even if you make it into a good talent agency, it can be a while until they bother to hand you some good roles. Of course, you need to build some experience but I swear I’ve seen the same handful of seyiuus get attached to every major production over the last few years. Not ALWAYS as main leads, but still attached somehow.

You can say the same thing about the western VA industry. Yeah, top talents are always in demand but the issue is passing over of newer or even just B tier talent in favour of the top earners. No one ever gets a chance.

There’s a couple, admittedly the talent pool for JP feels a lot larger so there isn’t as obvious of an issue, but once you start looking into it, you start to see the same dozen or so voice pop up everywhere, even having multiple roles in the same year.

Yeah but the JP VA industry is taken more seriously and pays a lot better. Nearly half the JP Holos wanted to be VAs from the time they were little, meanwhile it's only the weird kids who want to be Western VAs. Compare Kronii to Fubuki or Marine or Noel for example.

I wish western VA work was taken a lot more seriously. A lot of big budget animated films suck now for a lot of reasons, but especially because they rely on celebrity talent to draw in audiences. The mainstream can’t recognise a VAs name but fucking Will Ferrell? Oh yeah, that will boost ticket sales. Sad state.

I think even Nerissa mentioned that lazy/repetitive casting is a big problem in the western VA industry.
