I haven't been involved in this area in a long time but when I was in college there was looking to be some pretty good evidence that long term, painkillers actively make your pain worse and last longer. As far as I remember, there was a lot of discussion that the medical best course of action was probably to limit painkillers to the bare minimum. If a guy came in with a badly broken leg and you need to set the break, sure, dose him so he stops screaming and you can get the job done, but he would probably be better off not being given a prescription after he leaves the hospital.

Pretty sure that hey have the same opinion I do, it's just that they didn't clarify theirs to you by explaining that Mouse has already talked about it to stream and that she's the one who chose to come off of them despite her doctors saying it was okay to stay on. I trust her judgment the most regarding if she should be on them right now and the dosage because she went through hell to get off of them and you could hear how bad she felt for those weeks even if she didn't explain why she felt that way until way later. If she went through that and then had go back on to do her job and start a better treatment, that's her call and I won't question it.

I'm not proposing she's wrong to take painkillers fyi, aside from my knowledge on the topic being about 9 years out of date, I think it’s too late for her, she's already been on them for years, her pain response has already been affected by the long term use and I don't think you even can return to the original pain response at all. Not to mention, just knowing it's THEORETICALLY better to not use painkillers, for someone with a severe illness the practical effect of knowing "if I just took it today, I'd feel better, who cares if it's worse a year from now, I can't take it anymore" is an extra burden on the patient you can't just ignore.
