Its simple. As a survivor you need to do 5/7 generators to power the escape doors, or find and escape through the hatch if its open (opens when there's 1 person left or if someone uses a key item on it). As a killer you need to hook survivors so that they eventually die, they die after 3 hooks or 2 if they reached stage 2 (the skill check or die minigame). I'd say the hardest part of learning DbD is knowing what every perk does, just because there's so many on survivors and killers combined.
