Marine now has a 500k sub lead on Pekora.

It wasn't so long ago that Pekora was making a big deal about being the first to 2M, before Marine came out of nowhere to beat her to it at the last second by riding the Maribako wave. Since then she also managed to repeat her success with Bishopai which completely changed the trajectory of her subgrowth for multiple months.

But to go from hitting 2M at the same time to Marine now being ahead by 500k is pretty crazy. Marine is zooming ahead of even the most successful out of the other holos.

I think you're underestimating how important Maribako and then Bishopai were to her sustained subgrowth. Shorts are good for views but nothing has has the ridiculously visible impact that those two songs had on her subs.

If you graph out Marine's subgrowth, it's really really obvious how substantial they both were. Here, that first big discontinuous jump is Maribako. And the second kink, where the entire gradient of the line suddenly changes for an extended period of time is Bishopai.

Shorts are great for views but when it comes to subgrowth, the trick for Marine was having those superviral Music Videos. When you look at the numbers it's really clear how huge the influence was.
