Well, the most elaborated one goes to the dollhouse, nothing else has come even close, events and awards have that whole robotically-structurated aura around them, so I can't really get anything. But the one I enjoyed the most was 2018 E3 with my oshi, it is one of the few times during college that I was able to catch a break, and it gave me one of the best experiences because I filled the lack of socializing during that time with one of the biggest events, with my oshi, and for such long streams that, for a whole week, I was blissed.

I spent a bit ruminating on this and I came to the conclusion that there's really not enough actual gimmicks around. 99% of vtubers are either "streamer but there's an anime picture instead of a face camera or no camera". Gimmicks and hooks are very limited to content in majority of cases because concepts like lore or niche content "get in the way" of content but I just like the ability to think of vtubers as fun anime characters on the Internet that I can talk to and watch live on stream.

Cheap camera shouldn't affect anything. Make sure that your camera orientation is correct to allow you to look directly into the camera when speaking. I assume you're using the paid version of VTS and not cheaping out thought the base non-Nvidia/non-mediapipe parameters should still work. This webcam is literally just resting on top of one of my monitors. I swapped to a cell phone camera with ARKit instead so I don't use this one anymore but that's just mounted on a little cheap selfie stick/tripod that I can telescope to eye level. I'm having a lot of fun! But I'm also insanely anxious all the time now too! The learning curve for my end goals is huge and there's an overwhelming sense of guilt if I'm not working on improving my streams during my days off. But forcing myself to learn when my heads not in the right space doesn't do much either. It's frustrating! I don't want to be lazy but sometimes you have to be lazy to be hard working! Most of these feelings go away once I start streaming but I'm still having trouble eating and taking care of myself properly.

But with all the talks of collabs and networking, I think there are some games that are completely untapped in the vtubing world so far. One example are sports games and their custom leagues. The NHL games for example has EASHL which lets you make a custom team with it's own name and custom players and lets you compete against other teams online. A bunch of vtubers getting together once a week to play against a bunch of normalfags would be pretty fun to watch.

There's tournaments that are either organized by or participated in by vtubers, but you'd rarely see something like say, a group of vtubers who are part of a competitive Splatoon team, and stream their practices, scrims, and tournaments they enter as a group.

Funny thing is the devs have given us the tools to easily host tournaments. I dunno how other games are, but Tekken 7 lets you set up tournaments in the game and invite your friends. It's so, so much fun. Every stream is a blast, doesn't matter if I was having a terrible week or a bad day, everything changes when I get to chat with my friends on stream. The image I have of myself has improved a lot along with my self esteem thanks to streaming. If other people can believe in me then I should believe in myself a little bit more. In a way it keeps me going, it makes me want to improve not only on streaming but on who I am as a person so I can be an example for the people that watch me and make them believe in themselves too. If I can make someone smile after a bad day with my schizoid rambling then being alive is worth it.

I only sort of rebranded. I used a 5$ slime model from booth to try out streaming for a while before I decided if I liked streaming or not. Then I commissioned a full model because I thought it would be cool, made up some lore reasons for why I was turning into a human and started using it pretty much as soon as I could. There wasn't really anything more to it than that. And that was all done a good few months before you could even consider gen 4 a thing. As to why I got grouped into gen 4, it probably has to do with me not self posting much or doing a whole lot of stuff with other gen 3s at the time. And then with gen 4 I started trying to put myself out there more and did a lot more stuff with that gen, then erroneous got put into lists/tiermakets as a gen 4 and never was taken off when people said I wasn't gen 4.

All this gen stuff is kind of silly though. You can watch and associate with whoever you want, just put in the effort and dm people you like.
