To be honest Cover has serious management problems, one recent exemple is Mio, Sakura and Subaru not renewing the Sport Festival despite the fact it's one of the biggest event of the year because they have to pay for it and organize everything themselves is stupid.
Like they're really cancelling one of the biggest event of the year just because… reasons.
It's like if you canceled the Mario Kart tournament because the talents have to pay and organize it.
The blame is on both side I would say. Like
1. Shut up and do your work, bitch, nobody asks your opinion. You're a streamer you stream. If you have to organize this event you organize it.
2. Cover should help them since it's one of the biggest event of the year.
But despite the terrible management, 2 holostars leaving (a 3rd talent did too, no?) they still have the absolute monopoly and NijiEN is dying and NijiJP still behind.
Niji who was the only real rival is literally a black company treating their talents like dogs while Hololive engaged S-tier Fuwamoco.
Hololive sucks, but the other suck even more. Way more.
There is also what I call the Gura effect.
At a certain point, the most famous just snowballs and monopolizes the market. It doesn't need to be the best, it's just the most famous so newbies discover it first and stay.
The #1 chuba is literally a retard with a foot fetish who can't count, sings well but doesn't put one once of effort in it and stream every 32 of the month.

Cover is the same. They can do whatever they want, people will anyway discover Gura, Korone and Pekora before Pomu, Selen, Henya, Kson and Veibae because of the algorithm and that's it.
Maybe independants like Filian or Ironmouse (because of the QSMP) are the contenders but it's just one talent here and there. Vshojo is far from challenging Hololive.

Cover are already helping them with the Hololive Sports Festival. They got entire blog post about the Minecraft Sports Festival and the effort that goes behind-the-scene from Cover's side.

But they stop short of organising everything, or clearing up everyone's schedule for this. This is Mio, Subaru, and Sakura's events, not Cover's. Cover is only helping. It is treated like cover songs/MV that are self-funded by the talent themselves.

We don't know if there won't be one for sure, but as things stand right now they just don't have any plans to. That could change. Also they got help with the undokai from Cover and management, but at the end of the day it's the talents' event and not Cover's. They decided to cancel it for as of now unknown reasons. That doesn't make it Cover's or management's fault. Stop trying to spread misinformation.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe they're, particularly Miko, getting tired of hosting the event every year? Beyond it taking a lot of planning, work, getting everyone's busy schedules lined up and months of preparation this was the fourth undokai in a row. Undokai was at its peak in 2021 and the quality has dropped every year since then and it seems like it's getting harder and harder for them to keep it unique, fresh and interesting and they need to come up with new gimmicks and events every year. It's clearly taking a toll on them. There's also the waning interest in the undokai and that there's always those complaining no matter what Miko does for the event.
Maybe she'll hand over the reigns to someone else like she did with Towa and Mario Kart. Subaru maybe? Although I think this is unlikely and we might just not get undokai anymore. Anyway, the point is that it's not that strange that they're losing/they've lost interest in hosting the undokai after so many years.

They will never get competition unless they fuck up seriously, but that will likely never happen because Holofans are too loyal to the brand that they will ignore yabs that would cripple other corpos. We already saw this with the way they treated Coco.
There's no way for anybody else to enter the competition the normal way because Hololive is too dominant on the number side of things. Cover will be able to reel in hundreds of thousands of casual viewers and tourists with marketing and flashy events they do weekly, and that's simply not possible for anybody else. Smaller corpos could pull off an event of a lifetime but it wouldn't be able to attract viewers because it got less numbers than HoloID watching paint dry.
