I'm not even saying that idol culture in vtubing should be wholly gone, just that it shouldn't be the central measuring stick that everyone in the industry should be compared to. I'm really grateful that vox at least has a solid character and story reason to be a streamer in lore. There are way too many "My name is midnight nightmare, I'm a hyper powerful and sexy god, but I stopped doing all these cool things to be a streamer! You want to hear more about the cool shit I used to do? Too bad, it'll never get followed up on!" It's funny the first few times, but now that character trait is copypasted fucking everywhere.

I know it's maybe too much to ask the people that signed up to be corpo streamers to also write a storyline and act sometimes, but it doesn't even have to be complicated or dense. I think lore being a debut "hook" that rarely ever gets followed up on and is often treated like an optional cringe annoyance is cheating everyone out of some really cool possibilities for the medium. I’m gonna try that next time I tune into a fleshtuber’s stream kek. Also you’re right, most non-vtuber streams are miles better than and more creative what most vtubers are urged to put out. Every vtuber is urged to just be cute, not interact with anyone but the viewer, and do GFE/BFE even though there’s so many who already do that, especially flesh streamers… Seriously, watching paint dry is more exciting than watching the average stream of people who are following the formula to a T. I think vtubing would be better if idolfans just watched flesh streamers air chaturbaters instead because that’s what they truly want. Hell, they should just become fans of real life idols instead.
