You can use NPCs or even enemies for that, wolves tend to flank people and trip them. As for perishing friendly NPCs i did that once for Hunter: The Reckoning where the party met at a bar that was used for hunters to look for other hunters and info, they met with a hunter that gave them confidence and was acting like "this is a piece of cake, i've been at it for almost a year already!" and then there was a hunter that acted like an asshole with the newbies and told them to fuck off and never come back. Turns out the first mission they do with the nice hunter, he actually fucks up with the info for their prey and ends up getting murdered, the party severly hurt and the asshole hunter ends up saving their skin and teaching them that there's nothing easy, you take your prey seriously or you end up like that overconfident guy in the floor split in 2. But also this was for World of Darkness and the vibes there are a lot more darker and a lot more "real"

Yeah, I was thinking about that. The spellcaster probably goes for a scroll for example before going to his side arm. I'd also have someone chug a potion mid combat. I'd use the small encounters to give the party an opportunity to Stealth and surprise round the enemies, as well as one where they get surprise rounded instead to show them the importance of lateral thinking approaches and leeroying in isn't always wise. I'd use either goblins or kobold with caltrops as part of one of the encounters, with reach weapons. I also would give them an opportunity to rest with a potential ambush but provide a scroll of swift girding to their caster so they figure out how important it can be sometimes to be careful with their rests/assigning watch shifts. In the npc encounter, definitely show them how being prone can be both bad and sometimes good.

I like that! You showed them how the WoD is a harsh place and that they need to be careful with their approach. Similarly I would have the npcs they're working with initially be very helpful but that first encounter is tough enough that they could see even organized and experienced people could be in danger. During the tutorial cave I might have one of the npcs stay with them whereas their other party members get split and have his greed land them in the surprise encounter to teach them to be mindful or suspicious. Now I'm curious: do people really use the algorithm for content discovery? I've used YouTube since near inception and have almost never clicked the suggested videos in the sidebar or at the end of videos. My default YouTube page is my subscriptions page. I have search and watch history disabled on my account. My method of content discovery has always been word of mouth: either someone shared a video with me or someone I'm subscribed to collaborated with someone else and I liked the new content creator enough that I subscribed to them.

Sometimes when I open up my YouTube page it looks particularly nice, where every holo stream is on one side, Niji streams on the other, and my oshi is at the center, and I feel like it'll be a really really nice day. One thing I do to control my algorithm is if I see something potentially interesting in the sidebar, I'll watch it in a private window or in Newpipe. If I like the content and channel then I'll subscribe to it on my main, but I won't start watching there until their next video or stream. That way my recommendations don't suddenly shift because I've taken an interest in something slightly different.

The reason why she's not streaming them is because she can't show the entire game. It's also why she refuses to stream Fatal Frame. Not because she thinks they would be boring. If she actually were self-conscious about it she would have dropped Minecraft ages ago and would be spamming Zomboid collabs when that game was hot, same for Suika.

Thanks for the replies; feels weird that I've been using YouTube completely differently from how other people seemingly uses it. The behavior of using the algorithm on YouTube is something I associate with TikTok, which I also use, and I couldn't imagine using YouTube in the same way I use TikTok.
