I don't like streams and wish more vtubers would break away from the mold. I've been watching less vtubers and more generic content on YouTube because all the vtuber content has gotten stale. We're just getting the same crap we've been getting for 4-5 years only now there's more pay walls and less soul. It seems like no one is experimenting anymore.

Welp, that's the other side of vtuber corpos setting the tone, unintentionally even. The big ones do what they do, because their business models have proven to be successful. Deviating from there could hold financial risks, potentially even hurt their brand image if it really backfires. Smaller startups have the problem that especially hololive's model has been very successful and, in a way, has set an industry standard in terms of expectations. This is especially ironic since one would think smaller corpos are completely unbound from hololive and therefore should enjoy all the freedom to try out new things and be experimental. Practically, it's pretty much the opposite for business reasons. Their financial capabilities are much smaller and therefore they have to stick with proven models in order to stabilize the business and have a secure revenue income. Being experimental holds too many risks and could lead to a corpo going belly up at worst.

Also doesn't help if the corpo is being owned or managed in more conservative fashion in general, like it is the case with many businesses in Japan, which also cripples any push for innovation in favor of security and to avoid the unknown.
