It is, but the switch version is the definitive edition, it adds several quality of life improvements like being able to use all styles at the same time and carry all guns and weapons. It's a very high effort port for some reason. It's locked 1080p 60fps too so there's no loss in quality.

Would recommend playing in release order personally, disagree with what chat pushed Biboo towards. The games really lean into their reputation of "high APM" "you get a million options just to play with" "as ridiculously over the top as possible" the further you go into the series, it'll feel weird as hell to ricochet between faster and slower games.

DMC is going to be pretty variable based on how she plays it. It's a relatively short game (20 missions of...probably 10-20 min on average each, if you get really lost/distracted?) meant to have high replay value on different difficulties, and for you to go back and get better ranks and git gud and practice fucking around with different weapons and combos.
She played around a bit in Holocure, but seemed to skip that a bit in AC (may have thought NG+/NG++ was enough runbacks), so very curious to see how she'll handle DMC, most stylish combo/character action games are a pretty different mindset from Soulslikes or even MGR.

Either way, could see her knocking out the initial DMC playthrough in 1-2 streams, the series used to be known for being relatively hard but I'd argue it's easier than anything else she's handled, maybe AC6-tier at worst. She's not going to get held up unless she tries some insane first playthrough shit like Royal Guard only with no jump/roll guarding.

As for replacements, I recall her saying she hasn't actually given up on TotK at least, so it may still have a chance of coming back. Starfield probably a bit less likely.

4 is close enough to 5 that I can see it feeling like a strict downgrade on a blind run, especially since at the start you're playing Nero but without all his goofy gimick weapons from 5. Dante at least has some different stuff in his kit, though retreaded enemies and areas in his half of the game is a valid complaint.
If it's been a while and you already own the game I don't see any reason not to complete a playthrough or two, if only to experience its gameplay/the cutscenes/the enemy encounters, if you haven't touched 4 or 5 in a while it probably won't feel as much of a step back.
Or you could just wait until Biboo gets there or play forwards in the series alongside her for maximum experience comparison.
