VShojo's new hires are based on picking up talents that mesh well with the current lineup. Those tend to be Nijis and /lig/gers because Nijis are significantly less restrictive on who they can collab with, meaning some of them have actually had multiple VShojo collabs to form a bond with the current members and get along with them. Vesper didn't have a single collab with a VShojo during his time at Holo Magni hasn't gone to vtubing since graduation.

Bettel does have that connection though. His PL was in multiple VShojo collabs before he graduated and joined Stars.

Her debut basically screwed her over, besides being heavily influenced by "culture" of NijiEN at the time, she tried to be something she wasn't early on. She wanted to be the sadistic alpha female type but didn't know how to properly play it, and ended up rubbing people the wrong way when she's really just an awkward, clumsy individual.
Credit where its due though, she's at least become humble after it and herself will acknowledge the mistakes she made at that point. And if you want a 2-3view experience in a corpo where she'll be able to read your comments, you'll be fine with her since she appreciates her fans.

I know nothing about JP law so i'm open to correction, but non competes are usually only enforceable in very specific situations. You cant just fire someone and say they cant get another job at other similar companies unless you have a really good reason

I don't think he could swing it. Nijisanji has a terrible rep and the fans of the talents there are more loyal to individuals than than gens or corpos. This is why people were generally happy about or at least ok with kuro and matara moving on. Hololive and Holostars fans are loyal to the brand, and they don't take well to betrayal or being led on. It's the reason why the professor cratered so horrendously upon returning to being solo. It's true that LCC has better connects than the professor, but I'm pretty sure his fans wouldn't follow to his PL because the content was pretty different and it would be YET ANOTHER betrayal since many bettel fans are nijiboy refugees or former vesties and magmites.

I watch 4 of the Hololive girls regularly and Bettel is the only HoloStars I watch. You can tell he's committed to his job and provides solid entertainment. His Sims arc was great and he makes pretty much any stream chill and enjoyable. I can't really be bothered to watch anyone else in Tempus (besides Magni who phoned it in quickly and fucking quit). As for other fans who watch him? I imagine there's a lot of women who like fawning over the Stars guys, just like men who enjoy CGDCT.

As a Bettel fan, I'd honestly welcome him leaving. It's become increasingly clear that StarsEN is wasted potential personified after those first few months. They are held back by insane restrictions, a major morale drop after losing 2 members, an inability to organize (outside of Axel, but only externally and on the JP side), and being pigeon-holed into roles that might not fit them. Connor is a god-tier entertainer and he should be so much bigger than he is. Throw him in Vshojo where he and Kuro can be the gods of male vtubing.

I currently only watch Bettel, but StarsEN were great early on. Very reminiscent of 2012 and onward lets players, unironically the best chemistry of the other EN groups in Holo and among the best in the entire EN vtubing sphere, and a solid fandom that didn't have a persecution complex at the time. Things changed with Vesper's first suspension, but it showed the blueprint is there for success. But that success isn't going to come with its current members, current stated focus of Holostars, and current management.

1. Bettel is flat out a better streamer than LCC was. His humor and timing have been refined. He's not fundamentally different, just more confident in his act.
2. Visibility is a big deal. There are plenty of big creators that have been doing the same thing for years but only got and stayed big because someone bigger plugged them or they by chance went viral or whatever. There are other god tier entertainers out there that will never escape 2 view status because no one will see them.
3. They might not be appearing in front of the right people. Bettel shared a lot of similarities with Jerma for example, but he might not be known to Jerma fans, and the ones that do know him might not like vtubers. Reminder that he had a sizable following even before he was LCC, and you saw a bunch of comments going "ew, he's a cringe vtuber now" when he became LCC despite his content not really being different.
In general, there's a lot of factors why someone might not get big despite having all the ingredients of someone that should be big.

Don't you remember what happened to Rio? That's an example of perms working right. The writer of the game got mad and tried to stop his stream but the only thing that saved him was Cover having perms. Just because it doesn't happen often doesn't mean it will never happen. The mindset of "it never happens" is dumb as fuck to have for a company with 80+ other talents.
Also never understood why getting game perms was so integral to their success and I hate when EN whines about it. It shows that they have no creative original ideas and are relying on the laziest content to get by.
