Sora and Azki never ever composed songs I believe, merely wrote lyrics - which Watame, Towa , Suisei and Nene have too. Rikka ,Calli and Kanata are the only three people who have shown any ability to actually compose a tune, and this is one of Hololive's bigger shortcomings in my opinion.

Calli literally is on the level of drafting together several tracks and beats to create the outline of a song and reliant on arrangers to push things further. Kanata is basically on the level of slapping typical idol music chord progressions to a predictable melody in a hasty two-hour effort before shipping it off to the arrangers. Rikka's the only composer of any true note within Hololive right now.

Rettou Joutto , Kanata performance at V-ark - full of power, control, exceptional display of range (she's the perfect response to any futue Two Octave debate), and as always, she proves her PPT monicker. The main drawback is her texture is best described as pale and borderline nasal, and she's got quite a shallow vibrato.

Don't get me wrong, Kanata is a very strong vocalist on many aspects, and probably one of the strongest support vocalists Hololive has in the roster, but she has her drawbacks.

This thread is stupid because for some reason autist spergs treat different aspects of singing like stats in a video game and if a girl doesn't have 10/10 in every stat she's not even worth taking about. Am I the only one who finds Suisei's singing prowess overrated? Every time I've seen her sing in a live setting, she's had trouble staying in tune. I think her voice can sound rather nice but her constant pitchiness just kills any momentum she conjures up while performing. I don't know if it's her picking songs out of her range, or some mechanical issue with her technique, but I've just yet to really be impressed because of the pitch problems.

Suisei's entire issues is basically a damming indictment of Cover's ability to train it's talents, it's always has been this way since she was in INNK. If Pitchiness is an issue at higher registers (I haven't seen anyone actually making that charge with Suisei at lower ranges), it should be one of thing things fixable in 18 months time of consistent training, but Suisei has at best, six to eight, and that quality is very, very much an unknown, though Suisei remaking vocal coaching is a Gacha in that Noripro interview is very telling. That being said, she's GOOD enough in recordings to catch the attention of highly-rated Japanese producers, and very, very highly rated among her peers, and has gone through rather dramatic improvement over the past 12 months.

I think alot of the Suisei bashing basically go right into the opposite direction if they aren't false flagging, schizoposts or shittakes, but as I've said last thread, VT is the place where nuance goes to die.

Watame can put too much emotion in her singing because she doesn't have good sense in when and how to put it. She has improved a teensy bit on that front, and a lot on muscles/instrument and technique. So it's great for us Watamates

It's basically Soft J rock - though Towa's Pallete, Suisei's Ghost, and Aki's Heroine Audition are all in the same ballpark - the latter two is full-blown J Rock of various types, the last is absurdly under-rated jazz original fucked over by youtube kun.

Depends on what you define as simping to be honest - Suisei, for example, is very reliant on Utawakus from a channel metric perspective, since she draws triple her audience numbers when she sings versus any other content.

One nuance that definitely has finally emerged properly in this third thread is that every singer in Hololive, bar Azki are developing to varying extents. You are talking about singers here we are fortunate enough to see develop on a near-weekly basis, over a prolonged period of time. Especially with Watame, who literally sings every single week, almost without fail.

To me, Watame's challenges with emotionality are linked to the fact she doesn't have a very flexible timbre yet, and that kind of issue is subtler and trickier to work on than pitch control. So she just can't "dial" that emotionality up and down or change the "color" of the emotionality - going from happy to angry or happy to sad etc is something she doesn't quite have yet. The issue bears quite a few parallels with Nene too come to think of it (Nene got flack for her Ussewa cover in several quarters because of this).
