Based on his roommate, Magni seems like the type of person who would apply as a joke, expecting to make a big video about the experience, before discovering it wasn't actually all that funny and that he wouldn't have anything interesting he could actually make an eventual video out of due to contracts. Think like Egoraptor joining "The Tester" as a prank but it being so heavily edited and scripted his energy was sapped after one day.

Vesper however needed to actually sort his medication out correctly and make arrangements for what he could have whilst in Japan. It seems when he flew over there and had to abruptly cancel his time there because he couldn't get his pills, that was the beginning of the end. But he also seems like he has a personality which struggles from following orders, so staying as an indie who can be his own boss seems like the right way to go for him.
