Devchama here, first of all, thanks for the hard work you've done for the thread. I know a lot of anons derive enjoyment from the shit that gets posted on the threads so thanks for your contributions. I agree your fears about what constitutes "overbought" which is one of the main reasons why I've been bothering mainly mogu over it though I should probably be asking the thread more in general. The massive bog was due to Operation: Boggration going a bit hard those first few days. It was/is a two pronged approach to defeating inflation but the issue is that when inflation occurs on a single day (mostly) rather than throughout the week the deflation rates calculated for Boggration ended up being too high. I want to make sure that overall, you can intuitively tell if something is going to end up overbought or not.
An idea I had a while back is allowing for players to request an audit, at some cost, for a coin at that point in time using data scrapped at around that time and determine if it is overbought or not with some degree of certainty. IDK, opinions?

So the general bogging was due to Operation: Boggration as I have explained above. Also, to the thread in general. I would like to apologize for any disaffection for the dev team or the game due to the Badges we issued. We wanted to make something fun for everyone but at the same time, I specifically wanted to make it something that you needed to be present at 会長's graduation stream to get. I understand some anons have obligations, however, come on, it's Coco's graduation. I asked for the day off the day she announced it. Zhonk and the other devs however talked me down and convinced me there should be some other way for players to earn it after the stream. I'll admit my thinking was flawed in several ways, It should've probably been tied it to supas rather than buying the coin and also, the timeframe to get it guaranteed should've been extended for a little while afterwards for those who were focused on watching the graduation. Sorry, I pushed the devteam too hard regarding this without having enough time to actually have a polished product for you guys and neither did I consider things thoroughly enough. I know some of you felt the Devteam didn't communicate enough and I'll work on giving you guys more regular updates into what the devteam is thinking about, though I still will refuse to spoonfeed about future easter egg stuff since what's the fun in that. I think it's fine for future easter eggs, but you did not in anyway announce it like it was going to be an easter egg hunt, it was sold as a vague general commemoration for coco on july 1st. Yes, you did not, and you've said that before after the first big coco bog. Please stop being afraid to talk to us! As a professional game dev (not board game anon) I can tell you one of my companies failed because they were absolutely afraid to say anything to the playerbase, and it completely killed it. Try to find a GDC or something that gives you pointers into how to do it well, it *is* kind of an art.
In fact now that I think about it I think ALL the outrages that happened so far where due to miscommunications. Just be reasonably transparent, and don't wait until you're forced to dogeza before saying something.

This sounds like a good idea on surface, but it would eventually fall out of use because eventually the formula will be an understood (if not outright known) quantity. You'd have to change the formula regularly to make auditing a viable long-term tactic. All it would take to crack is some autistic richfag doing a bunch of regularly-timed audits and comparing the numbers, and BAM cracked algorithim. That's bad.
Another thing to consider is the increasingly noticeable amount of times that a channel gets Susan'd. If I spent money trying to audit, say, Ayamy, and then I make decisions based on that audit, and then Ayamy gets fucking banned from Youtube because??????, then I wasted that money, plain and simple. It's not a good feeling. I'm not saying that's you guys' problem, just that it's something major to account for when designing mechanics: How fucked is the player when Susan decides to enter the equation?

A major problem is that you guys want to combat inflation (which will happen anyway), but you also don't want your entire playerbase to leave out of frustration. Communication would've helped, but you can't exactly say "hey we're bogging the market tonight". Maybe an announcement on the floor or something "Hey, this week we'll be messing with the formula, but we're not telling you how or what that will do". That way anons know it's all a lottery and the points are at risk. There's probably issues with that, too. It's not a clean problem to solve.

Would you guys like this method, where the price is fixed and it's first come first served or would you prefer an auction method where the items are still limited but you bid on them? Also, regarding the timing of this, taking from what we learned during Coco's graduation, we didn't think making them available during the stream was a good idea since people are likely to be watching rather than focusing on some shitty browser game they picked up on a Azerbaijani carpet weaving forum. Would making them be available before an event better or after? It's really hard to gauge the market at the moment, desu. Everything is just going red right now which I can't get a good read on and will probably take me about a week~ to get a decent grasp on the new values. I personally like the idea of a overbuy mechanic as it helps prevent massive inflation the game has been struggling with. Getting the balance of it right seems to be proving a bit of a challenge though and I think the most important thing is ensuring that someone who has gotten some sort of sense for the game numbers can normally tell that something is overbought and so forth.

I like the item system, but, I'm going to agree with a lot of other anons in the thread. Coco badge was handled like shit. It really should have just been something handed out to commemorate her graduating and not some scarce time-limited epeen coin. I have no problems with this really for other events and so forth but graduations should strictly be something that is more or less given out. I really don't like the idea of commemorative items being something basically for a special few and/or profit. I personally got mine in the "gacha" phase and on the first buy so I'm not too sure if that was actually a thing but I don't approve of it for the coco badge either. The biggest issue was obviously the dev teams normal failure which is a clear lack of proper communication. Other anons have already made good posts many times about how there was no indication of such a thing and it being sprung on us just dogged a large amount of people out of something that previously no one had asked to being super limited.

I put about an hour thinking about this post but I'm not too good at speaking so I came up a bit short. I'd probably give better answers with more direct questions.

my biased opinion for item distribution
1. FCFS - same situation with the coco badge, but more pvp themed. thread will produce much seethe to infinitum. api faggots will rise from the dead
2. gacha - you know how this works, no players will have an advantage over others except for more tries/faster getting them all
This is for normal items, for special items just give it all out for free, anyone who trades for that day auto get it etc.

I work 2 jobs just to make ends meet. There's no way I will ever get anything implemented under this sort of logic.
I need you to understand that this is not an insult to you as a fan or anybody else that can make those things. I know my situation is not much different from anons that had to get up at 4 AM to make the old adjustment time. I don't think there's a problem with making it EASIER to access for people that show up on time. But if you implement mechanics that only benefit people that can show up for every special stream, you may as well pack it up. This game will be effectively dead if you return to the mistake of narrow-window time-locked participation mechanics.

Adjustments being a specific window are a necessary evil, and one people STILL have issues with. If you say "you only get it if you're here at X time frame that is less than 1 hour long", you are willingly choosing to utilize a system that you know has caused great vitriol with the fans. This is not an easy decision, but you need to consider the wide range of players and time zones that participate in the game, and whether you're willing to say "fuck you, you should've given up money/education time/ect. to be there for the anime girl".
Let me repeat that: You WILL piss off SOMEBODY in the playerbase no matter WHEN you release it if it is time-locked to less than 24 hours.

I just got into the thread so forgive me if some of this has already been said, but as everyone else has already said, for something so time limited, having us fuck around to find the coin wasnt great. I personally got the coin and I also personally agree with your idea of it only going to those who were present during the stream, but if youre going to make the requirements so tight, you should communicate them well in advance. Alternate idea, have it free to claim during the grad, and then purchasable for some amount for the 24 hour period after (half the starting amount at the time of purchase maybe?) that way you reward players being there, but also dont completely fuck over wagecucks. I dont mind easter egg hunts if its over the period of a day or a week or something. I also think you should make the Kiryu Kai badge untradeable, which will hopefully calm down the seething about people profiting off it.

I can understand wanting it to be special but at the same time because of the significance of this sort of event its also something that shouldn't be super special select few. Everyone is kind of doing a back and forth of the same stuff here so I'll just give suggestions instead of adding more repetition. If you want to make attending special event streams special I have two ideas for it. First, you get more of the items for collecting it during the stream. The second is that there is a special tier of the item that you get for attending the stream and then outside the period you can get a "lower" tier of it. Naturally my expectation here is that the special tier isn't tradeable/sellable as you shouldn't be profiting for being able to attend small time frames throughout the day. Naturally since we have the entire timezone problem.

The endgame implementation of the Kiryu Kai badge was fine (Guaranteed during stream and for a short period after; and RNG for buying/selling Coco after). I personally would've tied it to trading ANY Gen 4, but the main issues with the Kiryu Kai distribution, from a design perspective, were:

If there's a limited time, you need to make it transparent that "your cutoff time for getting the badge is 00:00 Server time" or something, and if it's a limited quantity you need to have a counter, tracker, or even just a dev say "Alright all quantities sold eat dicks".

I'm thinking the badges/items for oshiboard would be re-issued every 1/3 months (would have to decide the interval) with the item being permanent. This prevents seething/genuine anger ("this piece of shit knocked me off the board and I lost my oshi, I will never fucking forgive this prick") as well as preventing people from oshi-swapping by falling off the board and resetting their item.
So there's not a hefty penalty for dropping, but a good reward for climbing your way onto the board to incentivize takeovers and shake things up without too much bad blood. This only applies to the ultra rich. Buying dips to min-max will always be the better than just buying straight after divvies. I do agree that before, everything flatlining after divvies was a problem. I kind of appreciated it though since it was basically a day off.The old system (pre-bog system) you still had coins that peaked and dipped and weren't able to get back to it's peak in a short amount of time, off the top of my head, recent ones were Suisei at 20k for her 1m and Okayu at 8.5k for the rainy day live. In addition, some of the best divvy coins were basically consistent view getters that never took a day off (Pekora) or generated a ton of passive views (Mori, Holo). So they rarely adjusted downwards.

Nerfing inflation (the current way) is just bogging the price down. I believe some parts of the formula take the price of the coin or an average of the adjustment prices into account. You can see channels that had similar performance from last week compared to this week recline. The only coins that didn't recline were those that outperformed last week by a large margin. While those that did worse reclined a ton. Compare this to pre-bog where channels that had similar performance between weeks(Shion, Ayame) inflated and channels that took time off reclined only slightly(Miko is a recent example). That's just my theory though and I might be talking completely out of my ass

the reason why this worked is because the old system was busted. there were no real-time mechanics. also, he took advantage of low trade volume

I think this is stretching it a bit. I'm assuming were talking about overbuying for big events (costume reveals, 3d lives) your coin probably won't recover at least until after dividends. If you overbought for a normal stream, then unless you purposely surpress the price so another normal stream won't reach that price, of course the coin would recover in a few days. There's no real way to punish that and I don't really think the game should go that way anyways

This is a bit of a tough one I guess. Realistically divs add a disgusting amount of liquid into the economy which contributes to the inflation a lot. But as you said the overbuying mechanic should counter the massive injection into the market. The real problem here would be that if you aren't poor divs are the main source of any gains. Adjustments have a restricted amount you can make each day and outside events its a really small amount. If you nerfed divs we'd ultimately have the entire playerbase fall to a snail pace of gains if you are over the threshold to gain from general adjustments. This would kind of kill off a lot of fun from the game and cause a drop in the playerbase. Currently I get about 30 - 35% gains each week and so does mostly everyone else I think. This could probably be dropped down about 10% without causing too much issues with the playerbase I think. It should be enough that it minimizes inflation in the market while also not outright stripping the playerbase of real gains. If you dropped it any more there would be a serious issue with players making very little so people won't stand any chance of climbing the leaderboards. It's not an issue for me since 10% for me is still about 4m~.

If you were to nerf divs it really needs to be after there is money sinks, trading, etc. Shit that makes money and makes players lose money. Otherwise the market will just end up stagnating with little movement.

The recent wave was really hard. On one hand things tanked down to low prices but on the other hand its just brutally trying to shit some coins into 4k shitcoins. The boggening is healthy for the market but yeah it is a bit brutal to some coins. Naturally I take issue with mori's situation seeing as I had 400 of her before this started and she's worth at least 8k - 10k. Of course apart of this is susan but that just means that the bogs will prevent her from her being able to rise and possibly tanking even further lower than 4k. There is a few coins that are getting the unfair treatment with polka, okayu to name some obvious. Naturally both of us are happy with this since they're cheaper to buy but it's pretty rude that they are just being actively put down and seem like they will just keep going down. I'm happy for dips to buy but I don't want the coins to just be punished into shitcoin hell.
