Sunshine had blatant issues but the game was still mostly playable.
3DAS' version of SM64 uses a poorly-compiled ROM of the game, which causes rounding errors in the code that handles geometry, meaning that walls are taller than they should be, ledges extend and exist where they shouldn't, and tighter platform sections are a nightmare if you don't already know where to jump. There's also a mild input delay that doesn't exist even on the original native hardware, which is, y'know, the kind of shit you want in your ancient 3d Platformer.
I was going to also complain about the camera (they inverted it from the original but didn't implement an analog camera) but apparently a patch fixed that.

The weirdest part about the shitty emulation is that a massive Nintendo leak of old games (you may have heard about it; it was a big deal on /vr/ and /v/ when it was happening) confirmed that Nintendo has the original source code for SM64, meaning that it should've been piss easy to make an actual port, not just a shitty emulation, and even an emulation should've still been leagues better than what Random Fuckass #542 on the internet does.

I wouldn't worry that much about Amelia having trouble with Celeste. The hardest parts in the normal game are if you are going out of your way to collect berries or the tapes for B-sides, so if she gets into trouble it'll just be because of her own stubbornness. They are very generous with the checkpoints most of the time. It's amazing how much easier the game looks with a more experienced player, so there might be some minor sticking points as she learns.

I've had many friends who I'd recommend an anime to for example if they were asking for suggestions, and they'd tell me "Oh nah man the fanbase is shit so I wrote that one off in my mind". So they miss out on a great experience because they noticed the fandom being what it is, rather than experiencing the thing itself and forming their own opinion of whether or not they actually enjoy the thing.
