On that topic, as a former Hololive viewer, something interesting I noticed is that in threads for twitch chuubas, nearly every comment is in perfect English with minimal grammar mistakes. It's a sharp contrast from hlg, #, and Holo generals where broken English was the norm. That also extends to stream chat, where twitch chuubas seem to be mostly native English speakers, while on Youtube I've seen a whole lot of superchats that are basically gibberish. My personal theory is that /vt/'s anti twitch vendetta is a combination of data usage, more difficulty using adblock (and they can't afford turbo), and the fact that most people here are foreign ESLs who lack to cultural context that makes a lot of twitch in-jokes funny. When a twitch emote is a pun and you have never even heard of the thing it's parodying, it would probably be annoying rather than funny I imagine.

Twitch as a platform has become shit because the staff is retarded and the systems that streamers work under now encourage low effort streams. I open the site and most of my following list is on some never ending [SUBATHON DAY 62] and they both look and sound dead. They do it because they're required to stream absurd amount of hours by Twitch itself to retain high value contracts, and because the culture of the platform has been forcefully shunted into endless fake hype. I can't stand it. Good content has been replaced with pure time investment and nothing good ever comes of that. We're now stuck in this quantity over quality mindset where the average Twitch viewer sees numbah go up and thinks, "Wow this is great!"

Twitch is gay because the platform promotes surfing through livestreams like tv. There's a 'subculture' of being a 'twitch user' and it leaks into the chat which causes some of the gayest and cringiest shit to be said all the time. Youtube streaming and Hololive on the other had are pretty insular and while you might get recc's here and there for other livestreams, there isn't a huge built-in set of faggots who have no actual ibterest in forming a community around the streamer and just jump from stream to stream. It makes for a shitty chat for the regular viewers who are actually interested in the streamer and thrir content because chat gets overridden by a bunch of screaming, spamming retards.

But the difference is that they almost 100% are specifically there for the streamer, whereas a chunk of your twitch audience is just bored as using that stream as a stopgap.

Well there isn’t really a good way to filter for what you’re looking for on youtube, I get random stream recommendations from all over the place and trying to search for a Vtuber gets me like 90% vtubers in a different language. I like Youtube more as a platform but it wasn’t made with streaming in mind. I think if youtube implements good filters for streams plus some quality of life improvements, it will probably just become better twitch.

Nothing against her, but I recently figured out that the only vtubers I watch are those that either stream on YT or release videos/highlights on YT. Any vtuber I try on Twitch inevitably runs into the problem of having to compete with Twitch streamers I already follow. Those combination of those streamers basically covers afternoon to evening my time. Also ads really do incentivize me to click off any new streamer I try and go back to the Twitch streamers I'm already subscribed too. Of course I can install other scripts or spend more money (Turbo, etc.), but I can easily just start up a game and listen to my spotify playlist or put of YT videos in the background (all no ads).
