Nobody in Britain calls France or any other part of Europe "overseas". The british channel is so small that you can literally spot the other side from shore without binoculars.

That's not really the issue. The real issue is that they see every single country that is not japan as a single big unit. When a japanese talks about going "overseas" you can see some people say "overseas is dangerous!" and some other people say "overseas is nice an safe".

I have never used the word "foreigner", for example, because that doesn't mean anything really. "foreigner" to me can be a swiss or a congolese but using the same word to refer to both like they were the same is retarded.
