You can easily get psyched out by the timing because he holds back before hitting, but if you dodge to the side he misses and you get free hits
Dodging puts you in a better position to punish, while p-blocking builds the boss's invisible stagger bar (as does hitting, and charged R2 attacks even more so)
So if you're using, say, a sick greatsword then you dodge big swings and charge and slap while guarding big multi-hit combos because you can feather the block button to p-block all of them

There's some conflicting data there since the reqs are invisible but that's what did it for me. I didn't do the hidden enemy for example. That's one of two missions I had to search the reqs for because I was getting confused. I don't think it's possible before NG+ because you need a really fucking fast build that can still kill snipers. Basically, if you let anyone teleport away from you before the pit - you lost S-rank. Keep in mind you can scan the area before the pit where the ambush happens to start the fight early - it saves like 10 seconds. You also need to kill the armored one in the pit using Reactive Armor to instantly stagger it and then bring it down in one go which is also not that easy.
