Generally yes, regional prompter is all you really need. If you're using an hll model then you just need attention mode. If you're using loras, use latent mode.

You can also use controlnet to have better control over positioning - pose or sketch are easiest imo.

I haven't been changing models often recently so all the testing has been on one model, same goes for the vae and sampler. The process is nothing special really, I run the loras on a prompt I'm familiar with and each one gets a rating, the best ones go on a list of loras I use regularly while genning so I learn more about how they work over time.

Tried adding advent to HLL 5 and training it with v-prediction
I actually works - model can be merged, Loras can be used. Hands are better than usual.
Looks promising. I just need to clean up images and adjust settings.

For the Shiori lora? not much unfortunately. Character loras fight too hard with how I prompt since I place a ton of conflicting styles at different weights in the prompt. The most I can say is prompt with few loras and add the rest in img2img.

Unfortunately it's not really prompt, since the answer is that it uses some temperamental lora I made a while back that I've wanted to improve but the one time I tried it somehow made it even worse.

Glad you like it, no controlnet involved just a lucky base gen and then some inpainting. I originally wanted to start it with sketch/scribble controlnet but my drawing is so bad it was worse than just going with pure RNG.
I love those really dark images btw, that's one thing I still haven't tried making at all yet

Schizo negative was never the meta. Your negatives should be as slim as possible.

There really aren't any new "must learn" things, but things you can look into are adetailer for auto inpainting faces, controlnet for controlling the composition of your gens, and maybe regional prompter for specifying prompts for different regions of your image.

The most recent version of HLL is hll5c, although hll6 is expected to release soon.

I don't remember the timeline of releases now but LoRA have gotten substantially better since then, control-net (no idea what came first lol), much better models check out some of them on civt. There are quite a few ways to do small animations now if you have powerful enough rig and the new SD version SDXL, useless for Vtubers as of now.

You might want to look into controlnet and regional prompter.
Controlnet is sort of surface-level similar to img2img, it lets you use another image, even just a very rough sketch, as sort of a base for the overall composition and layout. It's a lot less heavyhanded than img2img tends to be though so you really do get an image with a similar pose rather than just a grafting of one character's features onto another.
Regional prompter lets you break the output into regions and have different prompts for different regions. The most obvious use is getting multiple characters in one image but you can also use it to position a single character in a background, or get props in specific places, or etc.
There have also been some new versions of HLL, I don't know which one you had when you left but there's almost certainly been at least 1 newer one since
