You can't know a streamer as a person the way a friend could unless you're actually IRL friends. RL streamers give the audience a false sense of realness and obscure the limitations of human connection by showing a cam like they're there with you. Vtubers by nature are made up characters with made up lore and made up voices sometimes even, and their form is a constant reminder that there is a unwavering limit to how close you can realistically be to the person doing the performing.

You should go down the 2 view rabbit hole and find somebody who's been streaming for years just for fun and has donations turned off. That way their actions are more likely to be genuine since there is no financial incentive. The people at the top are much more likely to be motivated solely by money and fame and just see V tubing as a career. One day when my health improves I'm hoping to start streaming just to connect with other people , I don't care about getting paid for it and would never join a corp. The problem with that type of thinking is that most chuubas that you care about are most likely gfe, so when insincerity revealed, meltdown happens, so you can't say "I expected that!". True I agree but with that logic you can't trust that anyone is ever being sincere even your friends and family. I guess the question is how much sincerity you're asking for. It's not really possible to ever be 100% sincere even if we want to, the way we act is always going to be affected by the people around us even subconsciously. People will always act differently in front of a crowd compared to their friends or relatives and when they're alone. Personally I'm not expecting a VTuber to be my best friend and tell me all their darkest secrets. I'm just looking for someone who doesn't lie out right to their fans or pretend to be in love with them, pretend that they are single when they have a boyfriend , fabricating shit that didn't happen etc.

Vtubers are actors in a technical sense but quite clearly their actual job, is socializing much more than acting - with the audience or with each other.

I'm sure some vtubers cross that border (similar to sharing irl pictures of them where they clearly don't look like their character), but for those serious about vtubing as its own distinct style I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and don't expect their rm to be a virgin.

I think to a certain extent vtubers have a little more leniency to share certain details about their lives in general terms compared to fleshtubers since most of them can still separate their persona and IRL enough that it doesn't end up inconveniencing their personal lives in any great capacity.

Case in point, I'd say vtubers as a whole have an easier time to talk about stuff like family or personal stories, of course throwing up the appropriate replacement names whereas if a fleshtuber does the same (especially if they've intentionally or not released their full name), I'd say there is a far greater doxxing likelihood of either them or their family members which usually doesn't end up well for all parties involved.
