How do you feel about the small indie channels you watch like Prism Project? I think they're so comfy with how you know they can see every single message and if they respond to you individually it means you have caught their interest, but I always get stressed wondering if they're unhappy with 50 views or if they keep their expectations reasonable and know that we love them and that they wouldn't get thousands of viewers unless they joined one of the big two. And if they do apply to those and get in then I'm happy for them and will continue to support them, it already happened to me once. Because by doing this indie channel they're building up a reputation which makes them look better to the companies they aspire to join.

I think almost every person who joins startup vtuber orgs knows what they're getting into. Some prefer the smaller community as it's more forgiving and lets them be more intimate with their fans. Others are just using it as a stepping stone for bigger and better things and just use it to gain experience. Occasionally you'll see someone actively numberfag and get depressed over the lack of growth, but those people are pretty delusional.

Besides sometimes you can make a living as a small vtuber if you have enough dedicated gachikois. Prism Project in particular are notorious for having some insanely dedicated whales, especially Rita, so they probably are way more successful than they ever expected in terms of income.

Honestly... I can't disagree with any of this. And it feels to me that generally speaking a lot of indies/small agencies see their relative obscurity as a pass to be edgy, swearing all the time and basically having no filter for anything they say. You can see this pretty clearly with Luto, who I see why she'd be appealing to some people but to me she can be a bit much at times. So Rita and VTubers like her stand out from the crowd by remaining so kind and dignified even though nobody is forcing them to.

I think Prism made a good call debuting Luto and Rita in the same gen since it shows off how much freedom their org actually allows their talents. Neither one is pressured to be more like the other and they get along well despite their differences.
I get your point though that smaller orgs tend to hire real gremlins that are desperate to get their name out there by being provocative and edgy like the dumb Phase Connect rabbit who can't stop breaking containment.
Today Luto spent half her stream talking about how it's bullshit you can't say Jap because it's a slur and then started calling everyone in chat burritos and tacos, maybe Captain should make more of an effort to rein her in...

There's also stuff like how with the new poll feature in chat I've seen vtubers open a poll and get more responses than the live viewer count despite the poll only being up for like 5 minutes and requiring viewers to interact with the chat, something most viewers don't do.

No, League has a reputation because the devs go out of their way to stalk social media for people to ban for things they said outside of the game. They're extremely authoritarian about their management of the "community" and even ban players for disrespecting China because they're owned by Tencent. If you call someone a retard in Dota you definitely won't get banned, much less if you do it on stream instead.

That must be a recent development because back when the Tribunal was a thing I would go through it for the free currency and I never saw a ban I disagreed with. It was always people literally losing their fucking minds abusing their teammates and then crying in the forums that they got banned for being an asshole. Now, there was one incident I remember where Pendragon was playing a match and some guy was threatening to feed in pre-game chat so he just went and banned him before the game started and then after the fact happened to discover that the guy had been bad in previous games and used that as justification for having banned him and the whole situation struck me as a classic cop move "You didn't do anything wrong in this instance but we looked through your history and you have committed a crime in the past so you deserve it". But Pendragon was always a shady dude, he's the one that ran the Dota 1 forums, stole the concept for Teemo, and wiped all evidence of his crime. Anyway, I haven't played in years so maybe they've gotten worse, or maybe it's that people are trying to be clever and grief and brag about it outside the game because they can't just play the game like a normal human being. But I sincerely doubt Luto has anything to worry about.

These days the only time I hear about League is when some streamer or pro player gets banned for something they said on stream or on Twitter. I was expecting her to be British from her appearance for some reason but sadly she was not. I still like her voice though. I honestly wonder why there's so few British VTubers, even amongst indies. Americans LOVE the British accent and find it incredibly sexy so you'd think more of them would be like "I need to get in on this." I hope one of the big companies like Hololive or Nijisanji gets a Brit someday. They got an Austrian before they got a Brit. Kinda weird.

Ah. That's pretty cool, I'm learning Indonesian so I'm basically learning Filipino. I'll have it mastered soon.

By the way, what is Capcom's endgame in being so generous with the streaming rights to Resident Evil Village, which really should have been called Resident Evillage. Literally every VTuber right now seems to either be playing RE8, or RE7 because they intend to play RE8 and want to play the first one first. Like why would anyone want to buy RE8 when they can watch all these people play it start to finish? Don't get me wrong, it's cool of them to do it, it just seems like a very bad move in terms of making money.

The hell if I know. I used RE as an example because I don't like RE games at all so I haven't watched a single stream of any of those games.

(Which is why archives are critical - if I don't know you and you're playing a game I don't really like, I'm not going to watch)

It is funny when you hear Luto say like 3 curse words in one sentence and Rita just goes “Hm”

I agree Prism might have the edge over Tsunderia tho but I guess we’ll have to see from Tsunderia’s new Gen debut but I kinda doubt they’ll reach the numbers Yura and Shiki did. Ola probably could tho.

Don't know what's up with Yura's voice but it kind of reminds me of Veibae's. Which is good because I really liked Veibae's voice but do not like how she's always talking about cum and stuff. So I finally found something that sounds similar to Veibae that I can listen to and actually enjoy myself.

Please don’t say that because I’m kinda hearing it now and it’s bothering me. Please don’t ruin Yura for me.

But true as long as she doesn’t do pee pee poo poi Amy Schumer jokes she’s fine with me.

I'm told Veibae's accent is Polish, so probably it's just that Yura also has a Polish accent. So unless you really hate Polish people hopefully that's not something that would ruin it for you.

It Orla nails the personality, she could be incredibly popular.

What's with the hype around this VTuber? I personally find her design to be hideous. But, I've been surprised many times as to which VTubers end up popular and which don't, so it seems that personality really is the largest factor, not design.

>> No.5890179

I feel like they must have let her go ahead with such a non-conventional design because they have faith in her ability to overcome the debuff that comes with that.
