Not going to rank them, but I find Beryl has a very chill voice that I can have in the background without issue. Olga makes my heart pound and I probably won't be able to tune into her streams as a result. Cats has a similar effect on me but I can suppress it well enough. Albert, for being ESL, could have fooled me and said he was a native speaker until the end of time if he hadn't been open about it, he's got a nice deep one. Fits his character. Sun has a voice and tone that fits wonderfully for his content and it sometimes makes me weepy when he hits a sad part in his old Greek stories. I like them all and many more, too many to list here.

I don't really care much one way or another about ai art. However I must admit that seeing the same types of people who were always the ones making fun of people losing their jobs to machines so terrified to lose their jobs to machines is kind of funny. $40 isn't going to get you any sort of quality. I'd take it as a loss. If you want a cheap mic, you can get a Blue Yeti for $70-80 on eBay. They won't necessarily flatter your voice but my experience has been that they can get the job done. Buy new. Open box is usually fine too.

I use a Fifine AM8. Never tried the A6T like the earlier anon suggested. If you go Fifine… I can tell you that all Fifine mics are a fucking pain in the ass to set up. They don’t have in house drivers, so make sure that your (assuming) windows drivers are up to date. Even with optional updates. Otherwise it will be a fucking brick.

AM8 is clear on USB, though quiet. Has the benefit of being XLR compatible at a similar price to the AT6. AM8 also has external mic mute button and indicator, which can admittedly be both a blessing and a curse. There is also no way to turn the fucking gamer lights off.

Probably a better purchase, but what the fuck do I know, eh? I was here in this thread three months ago and told to buy a snowball.

All I can comment on in that regard is that in the audio world, brand name tends to = quality. I haven't heard of Fifine before, but looking them up, they look like gamer schlock you'd see being sold at a Walmart with branding about how much of an epic gamer you'll be. The concept of an RGB mic is kinda hilarious to me.
You're best sticking with brands known for quality like Sony, Shure, AKG, Audio-Technica, Neumann etc or reputable clones. If you want to go cheap, I'd recommend the Audio-Technica AT2020 if you want something halfway decent and Blue Yeti being the absolute minimum and treated as temporary until you can upgrade.

You kinda have a similar voice type to Regis Altare. First thing I would say is that the acoustics of your room are very audible. If you can't get your room treated, then I'd say invest in a de-reverb plugin (usually a glorified transient shaper but more newbie friendly).
As for your technique, you do have a little bit of a rasp. I think you can soften your voice up to take the edge out - again, look at Altaire as an example. If you try to push your voice too much, it'll just accentuate the quality you don't like.

Alright I think I can hear some of the things going on in your voice, but describing "how to improve" a voice is pretty difficult, so let me know if this is unclear.

Your voice is a bit breathy right at the beginning, then yes there's some raspiness/fry once you start talking at what I assume is your regular volume. I think this is due to your "vocal placement". I suspect your voice is placed in your throat right now (you might "feel" your voice only in your neck), you might have some neck/throat/laryngeal tension that is contributing to the raspiness, or it may just be that you're speaking into your vocal fry to try to make your voice deeper and instead just pulling up rasp.

The "girlyness" you describe comes from two places I think - your cadence and the slight hesitancy/trailing off in your voice. A "nasal" voice usually means the voice is resonating too much in your nasal cavity (perhaps you feel your voice in your noise or feel your nose bridge vibrate when you talk) but I don't think I hear a ton of nasality here.

Generally "good voice" is having forward vocal placement (your voice should "feel" like it is floating outside your mouth almost), keeping your tongue/jaw/neck etc relaxed, and keeping your vocal chords engaged (all things you need to do for singing.) Less vocal chord engagement = breathy, too much pressure on your chords and your voice will sound very glottal and slammed.

Watching youtube videos from singers/VAs on forward placement and vocal exercises are probably the most helpful "free" thing that you can do

My advice is to stop playing games. Games distract you from your chat. Stop collabing. Collabing distracts you from your chat.
Try watching a game, and providing comments live while hanging out with your chat instead.
Sort of like when e3 comes out and everyone watches it with their chat.
When you watch a game instead of play it you will have more time to try out fun twitch features such as channel point predictions.
Channel point predictions get severely neglected, and often twitch chatters complain that they have too many channel points to spend, but no expensive redeems.
Well since time of yor man who finds his pockets were too heavy has had the ability to do channel point predictions in the form of gambling.
By watching a game instead playing it your hands will be more free to do fun things many vtubers don't have time to have fun with such as hitting those toggles on your model, and not relying on chat redeems to make funny radio show sound board toggles.
Also if your hands are free you'll have time to look up whatever you want while you're live to provide expert opinions on topics you are curious about, but don't want to rely on chat for on answers.
Best of all you can practice your drawing and writing reps if you involve a chalkboard during your time giving play by plays or lectures.
Let a gamer waste their time gaming. You're a show host. Not even game show hosts play games. That's what contestants are for.

Need help.

I'm working on a submission for my character design. My character's colour theme is black and white (very original I know, I'm fucking retarded in real life and my autism doesn't let me wear colours so that's the reason) and I don't know if I should do half black and half white hair. It's a male design so I hope people won't think I'm skinwalking shiori but I just don't know if it's too tryhard or not. I don't want to do white hair so the other alternative is black hair which I think is a little boring and I didn't want to black with white highlights because that gives me skunk vibes.

Yeah, VTubing for me is a semi-fresh start. I'm pretty open about other experiences I've had since it makes for good conversation and I hope I can use what I've learned to help other people.
So the wrestling stuff, I was just a trainee that was in the right place at the right time on a few occasions and had some good opportunities and learned some things. I did train under one Hall of Famer and later another alumni but I was never contracted by anyone involved in Titan Entertainment (WWE's parent company). Closest I got was that I knew a couple Italians, one who was an extra on Raw and one who was in a hometown hero squash match with a woman they were trying to push at the time. Fun fact, the dude who was an extra ended up breaking the fuck out of my arm and taking me out of commission for a good while ww It was an accident, he's a good dude and was always very nice to me. Otherwise I'm familiar with a couple people who have appeared on AEW a few times. But yeah as far as that goes, never went big so nobody would recognize me unless I trained/worked on shows with them before. I was just a no name jabroni but I learned a lot.
My popular YouTube channels were more meme-y so didn't feature my voice, thank God for that because this was during the random and quirky era of the internet. Not really worried if someone recognizes me from my previous streams, I was a camless streamer with no links to my irl. Most traces of me are scrubbed desu, only way you can find a picture of me or any sign of my previous activities is if you searched the name I used at my peak 'popularity' which was a decade ago at this point and since it was gibberish, it'd be hard to guess it.
And yes, I make instrumental music. I do like singing and it's something I want to try in the future. But my music is niche and does decently within its niche. I use aliases for this and have never put a picture of me on any of the socials/promotional material. So very very unlikely there's a link to be made there, though my production style is pretty recognizable I think. Maybe somebody will notice but I'm fairly certain there won't be an overlap between the audience for my music and the VTubing audience. It does do ok in Japan so hey, maybe. Wouldn't be the end of the world though, it'd just be a little embarrassing.
