but I'm gonna take a bit of a break because the ideas thrown for the Miko Autismo story has got me in another writing groove.

I don't come to these threads but I'm curious about something oddly specific. How do you all feel about writing the verbal quirks of tubers? Stuff like incorporating Pekora's "peko" into words, or their greetings/catchphrases (ahoy, nanodesu, etc), or general Japanese phrases and onomatopoeia they might use a lot. Is that "authentic" character writing or just extra cringe?
Obviously writing Japanese characters in English isn't going to have a perfect translation of their speaking quirks but I'm curious where the line is drawn.

I add honorifics in situations where it would be used in an unusual manner for the characters. For example it would get old using "Koro-san" the entirety of a fanfic about Korone, but sprinkling something like "Korone-chan" with the specific intention of riling/softening her up depending on the context is how I would approach it. I view it as "escaping the way you normally refer to the character" and expect the reader to know enough about honorifics to at least understand why I chose to add it at that point.

"Peko" is so integral to Pekora's character that there's no way to avoid it.
