Most names have a meaning, and that's not inherently cringe.
It'd make sense to call a baby Yuki if she was as silent as winter when she was born (as opposed to the screaming that babies usually do).
It'd also make sense if it represented the parents' wishes, e.g. the baby is named Yuki because the parents want their daughter to be "as pure as driven snow" and therefore raise her to act like that.
What's cringe about anime names like that is that the name is usually given with the author's intent of what the character is, rather than any in-character reason.

It's like naming your cat Whiskers or Tabby. No creativity, no wit, just a low hanging fruit. It's good for driving a point home, but it's too simple and too heavy-handed for my tastes.
