1. Don't scare away new viewers who just want to hang out by saying that you hate being praised. Giving compliments is the easiest way for a new viewer to positively interact with your content. Telling them to lurk more just leads to them finding a lower-maintenance alternative.
2. Ease up on the whole lemon whore thing. You can still banter with your audience, but try to make it clear that it's a joke by tone of voice, laughing or similar. New people don't know what to make of it otherwise. (It's cool to have a unique flair, but it has to be at least understandable.)
3. Tardwrangle people who enforce the status quo. (Yes, this goes for mods too.) You can do so in private if you depend on them.
Now obviously, her existing fans will say that this is a terrible idea, but that's because it involves change and less chances of grooming. It's true that there's a small risk of it not working out and alienating your existing followers, but that's always going to be the case.
